2024/25 Nathan Patterson

I’m not going to decide how good or bad Patterson is until I know which type of Jebus he believes in…

For anybody wondering or bothered by the above it’s 2024 and at least one of your parents lied to you because it was cheaper than childcare. Nathan has got to the very pinnacle of his chosen profession before he turned 23, he beat you easily, I’m sure you will make it inside the supermarket once the technology is available for autonomous shopping trolleys. Don’t hate Nathan for being better than you.

The lack of attacking intention from our regular left back actually frees up the right back to get forward whenever he can - Coleman demonstrated this against City. You have to assume Youngy knows his legs won't stand up to bombing up and down the wing for 90 minutes so his forays forward are limited but on boxing day Seamus showed us it's not a management instruction that fb's can't attack or overlap.

The only question left is why has Nathan Patterson not done enough to cement a place in any team he's ever been in? We can throw faux outrage at the vicious tap to the back of the head he received on a team jolly which has recieved infinitely more airtime on this forum than anywhere else it was mentioned, but Dyche is a man who now has a hell of a lot to prove to the new owners - is he a manager who can take us forwards or has he served his purpose in keeping us up? The fact he doesn't trust an attacking RB in a team struggling to create chances, even though playing him has the potential to enhance his reputation as a manager, suggests that Patterson truly just isn't good enough to be a regular in the premier league.
It's nonsense he doesn't like attacking FB's - ffs he had Kieran Trippier at Burnley.

and Dyche is one of the 20 PL managers in the world.

I don't really watch much football (aside from half watching coz there's sod all else on telly) but I'm sure he had an odd fullback at Burnley who attacked. It's too easy to blame a players failings on the reluctance of a "dinosaur" manager to play him rather than dig a bit deeper and question the player himself sometimes imo.

Not under Dyche he hasn't, and the potential is still there if used properly, obviously injuries have been a nightmare for him which haven't helped him in his development.
wouldn't be writing him off untill he's given a fair crack of the whip, but I get that he probably will only get that under a different management footballing philosophy!

See, this is Pattersons greatest attribute.

The excuses, it's never his fault.

When a new manager arrives in the summer you will have to come up with a new one for him.

It's as simple as this (and we all know it): he's not a PL class player.

40 games more he needs for *some* to prove that.

TBH I doubt very much if he could keep a first team spot in the Championship...a hugely superior league to the SPL where he really should be applying his meagre talent.

I don't have a problem with the doubts regarding Patterson, the jury is definitely out regarding whether he can establish himself as a Premier league player but the point still stands regarding about being given a fair chance to prove himself in this Everton team under Dyche.

At the end of the day the only way anyone can truly judge him is from his performances on the pitch, and unlike others within the squad Patterson hasn't been given a consistent run of starts to settle and adapt to Dycheball!

It probably will be the case that he is denied that chance under this manager, so any hopes of progress or opportunities for him as an Everton player depend on whenever Dyche is eventually ditched!

Would be crazy for Everton to choose to transfer him at a massive loss, so I expect he'll stay untill a more 'positive' manager is appointed , which would allow him to hopefully realise his true potential at Everton.

The irony in your weird crusade to banish Patterson back to the vastly inferior SPL is that both Rangers and Celtic would probably comfortably beat the current Everton side!

….what I don’t get is the impression that Patterson is a good attacking full back. It was a terrific cross he put in for Danjuma to score but he usually disappoints when he has possession in the top third.

So far, he’s been poor in most aspects of his game and that’s the simple reason why he rarely plays.

So what's the excuse for the ones that are poor in most aspects of the game and 'regularly' play?

I suppose this applies to his recent form at International level when Hickey got injured and he once again got a chance to be a starter.

The Northern Ireland kopite made a mockery of him but I guess it was the fault of Steve Clarke and not the player once again.

He needs to be sold and we put the money towards a new right back.

Certain people (like yourself) have made your minds up about him obviously, point still stands though he needs games for the opportunity to develop, taking a possible loss of £12m on him is madness!
