National Stadium in the North

Wouldn't be the first time they got govt hand outs for a stadium upgrade. They got it after Uwe's grandad bombed Old Trafford and they got a nice new stand paid for by the taxpayer for the world cup in 66. They love a begging bowl at the swamp.
I can still remember all the effort and millions of pounds city spent building their stadium.

I take it you are referring to the Etihad? Not the same for a number of reasons. We gave them Main Rd in return, paid for all the conversion work ourselves and pay £4M per year in rent. We could have bought the stadium outright but the money would go to Sport England. By paying rent, the money goes to Manchester city council. By the time the lease is up, the club will have paid over double the cost of building it in rent alone. Good deal for the club, good deal for the city of Manchester. The tax payer actually sees a return, unlike the rags who just want to take.

COM was easily the best case scenario for the city and the club.

Look at London stadium, sir what’s his name wanted to make sure it was an Olympic legacy and keep the track. So now it’s ended up being a football stadium 90% of the time (apart from the odd athletics that no one watches and for some reason baseball).

It’s easily the worst modern football stadium in the league, I went with work for an event in the hospitality and was surprised how empty it is with 0 character, never mind the distance from the pitch. Also some of the concourse in the home end is exposed to the elements.

COM had the lower terraces buried before city got handed it over and had to invest in a new stand and pay rent.

Look at it now, may not be to everyone’s taste but they’ve certainly made the most of it and I think it looks incredibly especially with the steep extra triers behind the goal, and the recently approved extension to the other side looks good. Compared to the RS Lego build

City pay for everything. It's not like West Ham's deal, which is pretty ridiculous and needs investigating by the govt. West Ham don't even pay for stewards, it's all included in the dodgy deal they got.

Yeah it’s not secret who Brady who was sleeping with to get that deal.

I know and I agree that it's disgraceful. However, it is somewhat hypocritical if we have a City or West Ham fan not recognising that they benefitted in a not too dissimilar way.

You can’t compare what city got to West Ham.

Neither club built a stadium from the ground up so you can.

No, city had to excavate and build a stands from their own expense / Maine road. They essentially paid for it and have spent 3x what it cost since.

West Ham got the stadium, whole new roof, stand adjustments for free due to political links. We’re still paying it from our tax every day.

They even got the running track relaid to claret paid for by the tax payers.

A national stadium of the north?
Like if Wembley has 1 WC Semi Final, the other could be played up north?

I'm sure we used to have one of them, havent seen it lately though tbh??

Can’t argue with the evidence.

What stadium is the second picture? The first is during construction, the third is much more recent, what's the second one?

Edit: Sorry, it the Alexander stadium in Birmingham.

Ahh you’re right. Looked pretty similar to that though.
