It’s mad like because he’s essentially on a level with Phil “The Power” Taylor. But whereas everyone calls Phil a sweaty sex beast nobody does it with Kobe.

Phil is widely regarded as THE greatest darts player of all time. Kobe is only regarded as one of the greatest Basketball players. All seems a bit unfair.

It overtook cricket a while back i believe. Cricket is very strong in specific countries, but there aren't many of them... its popularity is propped up by how big it is in India.

In the UK it's the 4th most popular sport in terms of participation, ahead of cricket and not that far behind rugby union. It's also the 2nd most popular sport (again in terms of participation) with kids/teenagers.

Cricket stars are only famous in cricket countries, NBA stars are famous everywhere.
