Was just listening to an ESPN discussion online about the Timberwolves with them asking basically do they carry on winning games or do they purposely not try as hard to try finish lower in the standings to try ensure their Top 3 draft pick next year.

How are we meant to take American sports serious when that's even a discussion? Imagine a footy team purposely not wanting to win some games to try get a reward for finishing even lower.
Tanking is a pretty common thing is US sports. Jets fans were gutted when they won a game this year as it meant they missed out on the number 1 pick and Trevor Lawrence. This is the problem with closed leagues, there is no punishment for being rubbish and it is a benefit to be the worst.

I know, actually made me somewhat angry when they were discussing it, just such an alien concept to me.

Don't take it seriously. Who cares. No one will care.

Promotion and relegation is great from a sporting aspect. However, it is horrible from a financial aspect. American sports franchises in the NFL and the NBA are pretty much the most stable in the world. For better or worse that closed system led to that.

Secondly, in American sports like football, baseball, and I'd even argue basketball still can be lumped in at this point. These sports aren't, well football and baseball, globally played sports. There isn't enough quality players to begin with to support promotion and relegation and more teams. It would be such a reduction in quality that promotion and relegation would be awful to these sports. Just because something isn't ran to the way you'd like doesn't make it inferior, wrong, questionable, or whatever.

In fact, these leagues have been ran far better than you would have done with them just by your post. You don't know what you're talking about. Americans don't watch amateur sports, lower levels of professional sports. It's all big markets, big teams and powerhouses.

It's reverts back to the Super league crap. These owners are wrong in that instance. However, the business model and set up is perfect for America.

That was a great game. Great second half from the Lakers. Huge 3 from Lebron right at the end. Don't really think there's any chance of us defending but at least we're in the playoffs proper now

Suns as cursed as Everton. 2nd best record in the league, get the defending champs as as a 7 seed in the first round, hall of fame point guard gets hurt running into his own team mate. Lose late to AD getting escorted to the free throw line all 4th quarter

Sports makes me miserable

Get the bloody vaccine. Almost everyone in this Knicks crowd is fully vaxxed and the roar is so great. I love watching the Knicks fail, and even I’m ready to start shouting DEE-FENNSSSEEE along with the organ.
