It's an anti-tanking gimmick. My guess is without it the Spurs and Pelicans completely shut it down and a few other teams that didn't make it still put an effort out much longer. So I think it works as intended.

Pelicans and I’m a fan of it for what Iggy said. No team should actively look to crash their season late on to try get a better draft pick.

So agreed on the bolded. These teams aren’t the ones tanking in the first place though. Really the NBA should just do away with the lottery and say every team that didn’t make the playoffs has the same odds to get the top pick. Just make the whole lottery a random draw with equal odds.

They've sort of done that too. It isn't exactly flat but it has helped.

I mean this season the only real tanking was Portland once Dame was officially out, OKC and arguably Houston. Orlando and Detroit are just young and bad but they played hard and put the best guys out. They just weren't very good. I'd argue Houston is more in that category too.

Yeh it’s a bit of a flawed system and goes back to my age-long argument about lack of relegation. It does happen too often though.

But anyway, we beat Spurs, onwards for the Clippers woo.
