I'm mildly hopeful of this lad. Would love playing for us sparks him.to raise his game and be even better.

But I feel we moght be pinning a lot on him especially we lose today.

Its good to get someone with some solid Premier League experience, a known quantity rather than an expensive foreign punt.

But Maupay is a 1 goal in 4 striker in this league - 26 goals and 7 assists in 102 games in his time at Brighton. And if you look at his whole career, he's only really scored goals in Brentford's promotion year from the Championship some 4/5 seasons back.

Think he's going to make a contribution, but we'll need DCL to be on fire this season to get the goals we need to stay up. Hopefully Maupay's support play can help with that, but going into the season with Rondon/DCL/Maupay as our three strikers is a hell of a gamble.

I wish him well, but I reiterate: his height bothers me.

We lash balls up top regardless of who is there. He’s not a target man. Not his fault, but he isn’t.

I'm bothered by anyone less than 5'10 to be honest, not just in football. Something usually seems a bit off with them. A little bit sinister.

Also bald men.

And people that laugh excessively.

Like the rest of the signings (Onana aside) he is a mid table at best player. Lampard and KT are setting the bar very low
Comfortably midtable has to be the target until the new stadium is built, given the finances. Once it opens, we should see a significant bump in revenue that will permit a little more ambition under both Prem and UEFA rules.

Maupay is a player that fills an urgent need at a price that is right. He's a means to climbing out of the financial grave we dug ourselves before the walls collapse and we're trapped.

Or they are being realistic, working within their means and setting up for a team that won't be in a relegation battle again? Gone are the days (for now) of James Rodriguez style players.
We need stability, security and an identity. I think FL gets that and is working towards it.

Its arguable that Maupay is an investment for next season. Hasn't ever really delivered in the Premier League, but a proven Championship goal machine.
