Pukki has scored nearly 40% more than Maupay over their last two PL seasons and would be much cheaper.
There are better options than Maupay.

February is a strange time for his contract to be up. Don't you mean he's in the final year of his contract and can sign a contract with a foreign club in January when he's just six months left to run on his deal to join them upon his contract expiring in June?

He can't walk away for free in 6 months. He can walk away for free at the end of the season. They are choosing £15m now over losing him for free but they are not devastated at losing an easily replaced player.

They offered him a new deal, he didn't want it so is leaving. They're selling him so they don't loose him for free next summer.
Maupay scored more than Isak last season in a far superior league and is costing £45m less.

We don't do that here. If he was someone nobody has heard of, who was signing for 20mil+ from a farmer's league, we'd be all excited. Because he's been ok in the Prem, & is reasonably cheap, he's written-off before a ball is kicked.

Certainly. There's a feeling with Maupay that we know what we're going to get. A player that knows how to score in the league, is competitive and works hard for his team.
Isak has been very hot and cold for Sociedad, there's a big element of risk for that price. Could end up another Sandro for all we know. We don't have the luxury of being able to take expensive gambles at the moment.
Newcastle are a better team than us so I’m guessing Isak. He’ll be a good signing for them.
As long as Maupay contributes for us then I’ll be happy enough.
