Everton creating the least chances in the league, to a number 9 who is never a number 9 who is bit part and on his arse for confidence.

I know some may be against it, but what do the fans do to 1. show the manager that he's getting it wrong and 2. show the club that the calibre of player brought in simply isn't good enough? 2000 people in a protest outside the ground? 10 banners inside the ground? It does nothing. Nobody wants to boo their own players, but if they disgrace themselves every time they step foot on a pitch, maybe it's about time frustrations were voiced in a good, old-fashioned, round BOOING.

Grow up

Maupay started his career with Nice and was a France youth international. He is eligible to play for the Argentina national team through his parent and in February 2022, he made himself available and put in a personal request to Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni to consider selecting him.[4]
Gone from delusional levels of confidence to what we see now.

It was just a ridiculous transfer. He's had one notable scoring season in his life, in the Championship four years ago, followed by three years spent demonstrating that he can't quite cut it at the bottom of the Premier League.

People make excuses by saying he's not a natural centre forward, but I don't see anything to suggest he could offer something wide or in the space between midfield and up front. The only talent he's ever shown is an occasional ability to strike a ball cleanly, hence the handful of highlight reel goals he got at Brighton.

If we do go down, he may end up playing the Vydra/Rodriguez role next to whichever rugby player Dyche buys in the summer, but I'd sooner use Gray.

He has missed 7 out of 7 big chances he has had this season. That's a woeful statistic.

His only goal was a shot from range and not a big chance under that metric.

I dunno you know. He's absolutely terrible and will Dyche really be changing his tactics to better use him a league down? I doubt it. So he'll be awful whatever the division. Simms did ok-ish for Sunderland, and unless we significantly strengthen the squad, we're looking at no better than mid-table anyway. Get DCL fit, Simms, maybe a loan signing too and that ought to do us fine. Move into the new stadium as a fully-established bog-standard Championship outfit with everybody laughing at us.

This is true.

Simms did well at Sunderland to be fair.

Sell DCL though.

What constitutes a big chance and, is that a metric that alters dependent on the player in question?

Big Chances
A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score, usually in a one on one scenario or from very close range when the ball has a clear path to goal and there is low to moderate pressure on the shooter. Penalties are always considered big chances.

That seems to be the Opta stats definition. I'd definitely count the one on Saturday under that definition. The header could quite easily have been one too.

I don't see anything that says it can depend on the player, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong

WE p
He’s not good enough but we don’t half make it difficult for players to perform here by not playing to their strengths and giving them thankless tasks.
We were delivering long searching balls to Maupay, against a big oaf at the back who was completely dominating everything in the air. Its of little coincidence that our goal was created by keeping the ball on the floor. Maupay isn't what I would consider a striker fit for Everton FC, but he was on a hiding to nothing on the weekend. The biggest issue for him though is that there isn't anything that seems to make up for his lack of height. Hes not really strong, hes not remotely fast, his positional work seems off, hes not suited to our squad at all, as we have nobody that can fill those missing abilities.

Like if you had a small fast striker that plays off the shoulder, pair him with a tall ball winner and vice versa. Who do we pair Maupay with in our squad to make him effective? At other clubs, hes dropped off and filled a gap that was created by strikers getting in the box, sitting in the hole. Now hes expected to be on the keepers toes as there is nobody to brig it down in the middle.
