Neighbourhood Etiquette

I'm hoping this spawns some great stories but I'll kick it off with a big one for me since I've been WFH the last few years: taking in parcels for neighbours.

Should you do it? Do you do it? Do you lie and say you can't take them as you're going on holiday that night (used that few times), are their certain neighbours' parcels you refuse to take?

Currently I am sat with 3 parcels from 3 separate houses in my porch. I am not leaving my house, they can come to me to collect, don't care if I have them for days.

I moved outside of the city so I don't have to speak to or see anyone I don't want. My interactions with the neighbours are limited to a cheery hello while I walk the dog and nobody bothers anyone else.

There's a load of trees separating me from seeing what anyone else is up to and anyone seeing what I'm up to. It's great.

Thankfully I don't have neighbours anymore

But my parents have incredible strange neighbourhood etiquette.

They live at the end of a cul de sac and all properties have driveways, my parents drive way is located at the end in what I would consider the turning around area. They also are one of the few driveways on the cul de sac with a driveway with room for two cars.

My parents don't park their car in the driveway with space for two, but instead park in the turning around area. With one car fully in the turning area and the other with the front wheels just over the lip of the driveway.

I have always seen it as such a dominant move from them. Even when others struggle to turn or need a quick place to park their utter determination to not budge has me in awe.
Its outrageous, I would be fuming if I lived next door.

They are monsters

If we are not home, the postie just leaves a card so you can pick it up from the post office.
Safe, secure and doesn't need anyone else to be home.

Of course, living in Australia, our nearest neighbours are 150kms away
