Neville Southall

Rightly or wrongly, I think his quite straight-forward, abrasive style wouldn't probably go down well with many of the modern footballers. A few come to mind...

I feel that the way a lot of players are today, there would be a full-on meltdown if Neville Southall was let loose on them in a managerial capacity. And God help any squad member if he thought they voted tory :D

by the fans, unfortunately not the club.

He’s one of the greatest goalkeepers ever, the club don’t respect this one bit and it’s utterly shambolic
While I'm not directing this at you personally, I think that in itself (only seen in that regard) is a point which does him and his deeds undue respect.

He's one of our greatest players ever. Do the club recognise that? Like heck they do. From the glorious 80s, he is still the player for me who stands out.

I've never thought the club have promoted him as 'one of the greatest of all time'. In discussion he should be right in the mix in that category but the club have never seemed to present him in that way.

Although, some of it may be due to his modesty and reluctance to promote himself.

I personally think because he’s not a yes man, he’ll openly slate the club, like a fan, if he feels they’re under performing.

But like everything 80’s Everton related the media aren’t interested, it never happened. One of the greatest living teams of England needs to be memorialised by fans making a movie.

The second paragraph is exactly what it is.

He is also well renowned for being a bit different and not being overly social in the way that "normal" people are.

I don't care what recognition he gets from elsewhere, those who know, know.

He jointly managed Wales for a couple of games and I think he had a stint in the lower leagues (Dover/hastings? iirc). They did not go well. I don't think he is suited to management as he was too abrasive to deal with the people in charge, but as a goalkeeper coach he would have been excellent.
He definitely managed Hastings and Molesey.
I went to Molesey to watch my non league team and he was sat up in the stand with 2 female members of staff before the game. I went up to introduce my young son to him and i asked him whether he was enjoying management. He said yes but the staff were sh*te...:)
