Allan was a leader at Napoli and is highly regarded and respected by Ancelotti but language could be a barrier as from what I can tell he only speaks Italian and Portuguese. Holgate is a good shout but same issue as Allan. Gomes could be one also but I don't see him being played enough consistently to make it count.

While the Doncaster accent can be a bit weird, I'm pretty sure he'll be ok.

I don't think the language barrier is a huge deal any longer anyway. I want Hamez to have the #10 and the armband right now.

...I really don’t get the issue with captaincy, these threads arise quite often.

Our most successful captains (Ratcliffe, Labone) we’re not voiciferous, they didn’t get in referees ears, play with their sleeves rolled up or wanted to fight with the opposition.

The squad needs the right characters. As with the mid-80s team, they complimented each other so much they didn’t need telling when they made a mistake, they knew they had to pull their weight.

....I didn’t notice but that’s encouraging. I’m a critic but he’s on the top of his game so good on him.
