The word Everton needs to be nice and big so it can actually be seen by advertisers and the media, and the overall design needs to easily replicable for the same reason

Director of Communications Alan Myers said: "As you know, we have made a commitment to allow supporters to choose our crest for the 2014/15 season but for this coming season we have our 2013/14 crest and we will wear it with pride, and, accordingly, will support it as our crest for the duration of the season.

Vault these words ready for the inevitable change of mind along the lines of "Following consultation with supporters we are delighted to say that the new crest has been accepted and therefore will remain in place"
