RM definitely inherited a hugely talented side in Belgium. Can't deny that. But we've seen plenty of times where national teams with lots of talent just don't mesh at a high level, and that's up to the manager.Probably their greatest wealth of talent ever though. I’m not doubting the job he’s done by the way, just saying he needs to prove this level at domestic level
David Moyes signed Stones and Chelsea gave him Lukaku after he phoned up about someone else.He brought in:
Lukaku
Barry
McCarthy
Stones
Barkley
Deulofeu
That's roughly half a team there that pushed us on in his first season.
Yeah it went badly wrong but the stuff about it being Moyes team is not true at all. The first season was all on him as much as the following two seasons were.
To be fair Martinez was a pretty young manager when he was here. He was/is at an age where he is learning all the time, managers can improve just like players.
I wouldn't have him back though purely because he wouldn't get a proper chance.
He didn’t bring in Stones or Barkley. They were very highly rated young players he inherited. Del wasn’t really a big hit either.
Damn, now that you said that I actually remember that now ha. Forgot what match that was, but fair enough.Jagielka was recorded as our fastest player around that time and Distin was rapid given his size, not sure either we’re sloths?
Not the point of the post though I know and yeah McCarthy was brilliant before he got injured and Stones has gone on to win loads of trophies.
Has he proved it at international level. Failed miserably at the World Cup with the best team.RM definitely inherited a hugely talented side in Belgium. Can't deny that. Agree with you though that he needs to prove it at the club level. I just believe in him enough to let him do that here, assuming this Iranian has the dough he says he has and Martinez can actually bring in some decent players for his style. That's a huge "if" though.
Spot on everyone is entitled to a opinion, but eh he wasnt my first choice but will get right behind him if he gets the jobAm sure they do.... We're a fanbase that can't be appeased. Not matter what....we had one of the most successful managers ever and even then people still weren't happy.
I want people to have an opinion about their club but I feel its goes beyond with blues, beyond to the point where if they don't get what they want everything else is a disaster and the club are personally attacking them
I personally had my favourite for the job and it wasn't Nuno but I'll give him my full support going forward and I would give it to whoever it was....even Potter.
I genuinely feel we're in danger of becoming a too fractured a fanbase constantly fighting against each other,Even today I found myself arguing with a fellow blue in work while my red colleagues sat back and laughed.
This was an eye opener!
One thing us blues have had is our togetherness, our stubbornness our ability to give as good as we get but I feel this has eroded of late we're probably the most polarised fans in the country.
Absolutely...we shouldn't. I feel our lack success now though is manifesting itself into blues turning on blues...even me on here, I get caught up in it.i understand the points but at heart it’s driven by a desire to win, to be the best. This isn’t just any club. It’s history and it’s past success, it’s culture drives this desire. Is there an Everton fan who’d be ‘happy’ with 7th?

As soon as he started tinkering with Moyes foundations we fell off a cliff. Was like the bloke who had a good season with O’Neill’s Leicester, before making a mess of it.
I am more than aware of that. He brought them into the team. Stones had never played for us, Barkley was languishing on loan in the Championship. They were not "Moyes team".
Del was a hit that season.

Mate this could be the most unglamorous of appointments but the one we needed... We just don't know.Spot on everyone is entitled to a opinion, but eh he wasnt my first choice but will get right behind him if he gets the job
.by God he's got a big jumble sale first good luck with that one
