While I agree, the issue is that for many non-Everton fans this is not the image that the club currently posses, so I'd say we need to re-find our identity.

There are far too many Evertonians, many in their mid 30s, who've never seen Everton win anything bar the FA Cup a generation ago. No wonder we've lost it.

I want a manager to come in and help rekindle the belief in the club and let outsiders understand our high-expectations.
While I don’t really care about how other clubs see us I do agree with everything else here. However reigniting our belief isn’t the same as building a club or giving us an identity.

While in most instances I feel the same, I on occasions also feel it is important to at least consider how we're perceived to gauge our standing in the game.

I'm not talking about listening to everyone as football is a tribal and partisan game, yet, I do find it is interesting when you talk to objective fans when on travels.

Everton are often liked and our fan base is usually recognised for loyalty. The atmosphere in and around Gooidson gets good reviews for a number of reasons.

We're liked more than Liverpool. However, we're not seen as a successful club apart from the fans who've seen us succeed - we're seen as mediocrity.

To reignite our belief is one thing, but to get others to see this can come from one thing alone - success; rekindling the belief in the club would mean rebuilding.

By a rebuild, I mean getting the team here and now winning games, competing against the top clubs and ultimately getting silverware. That'll rekindle the image.

To be fair I felt Martinez did try to ally himself to our identity, talked about us a a "huge" club, embraced the culture of it, yes it went very array quickly, but a 72 point finish with a great brand of football, two semi finals again but for Lukaku's penalty miss at Wembley and the intervention of "Big Martin Atko"at the Etihad, who knows?aaah well,in Nuno we trust now eh?

Pointless moaning now. Seems like the decision has been made. Better to concentrate on what the potential positives may be.

Wouldn't have been my choice, but then I'd imagine my choice wouldn't have been popular with many anyway. I'll just focus on the fact that he's achieved decent league performances with a newly promoted Wolves side - yes they've spent money, but so have we and that's got us nowhere so it might be nice to have someone who has managed to actually get a team to play together after spending it.

Also for the xG nerds amongst us, Wolves actually underperformed vs their xG in their two seasons when they finished 7th. Their par xG would have been good enough for 5th and 6th.

His association with Mendes is one I find unpleasant.
Santos effectively operates as an on site line manager for Mendes’ company.
He takes the players Mendes sends on to him and when they have grown in value , ( he is effectively the head of his own small business ,‘entourage does them a disservice ), these players are moved on by Mendes for a profit. With new placements sourced from the same stable.
When the Wolves owners decided they would need a more attacking approach to achieve their aim of breaking into the top positions Santos was given a season to show he could deliver but failed.
Mendes has now supplied them with a new, more suitable manager ,from his stable.
Wolves have formalised this symbiotic relationship by allowing Mendes’ company to buy into Wolves.
While such a relationship has proved beneficial for Wolves up to this point , it amounts to effectively out sourcing the scouting, recruitment and managerial departments of W.W. FC.
I would have to assume we will enter into some form of a similar relationship whether informal or formal.
For many supporters ,if it brings a measure of success, they will be unconcerned.
I personally find I abhor the inherent cynicism of the model.
It effectively changes the ethos of the club from making a profit to pursue sporting excellence to pursuing sporting excellence to make a profit.
That subtle change of emphasis is one I find distasteful and deeply disappointing.
Again,I realise most will not care if it delivers success however.

quite saddening to see so many of our fans are content with us being nothing more than midtable nothingness. Shouldn't we expect more? You wouldn't think we are one of English football's most successful clubs the way the media and now apparently our owners tell us to sit in our box and expect nothing but the bare minimum. I don't even blame Nuno, he's obviously been given a coup to manage a club like ours. I'm just devastated to see the further decline of the club that has been in my family for generations.

Hugely successful club in all but the most recent times. 4th most successful in the league. Founder member of the leagues.
None of that means anything anymore Groucho, Chelsea get bigged up now as though they have always been in the mix. As far as the Prem generation are concerned, we got into europe a few times and didnt do well, got into an FA cup final and lost, mostly finish mid table, play crap football.

it is depressing, but nevertheless true that we are never mentioned as 4th most successful club, or founder members. We are no longer relevent in football terms, outside our own fanbase. That is not to say we are irrelevant, we are seen as a wealthy club now, but in pure football terms, Leicester & spurs have now overtaken us in footballing terms.

We need somebody to give us some relevance back football-wise and the only way that can be done is via success. I have no idea if Santo is the right man for the job, but he appeals to me more that Ferguson, who i would like to see move on and cut his teeth outside his comfort zone. Root and branch we need a clear out as the club is going nowhere

We haven't won a trophy for nearly 30 years and we've never won the Premier League. We are an irrelevance to most people, including top managers. The only way to break this cycle is either to get a big name manager and spend money or get a progressive coach and bring in young players. We have chosen neither and will therefore remain irrelevant to everyone except our own fans, who will turn on the manager pretty quickly. I reckon it will be a race to see who gets sacked first, Nuno or Fonseca.

Remember 18 months ago when fat boy was sacked, he saved Everton what more do Everton fans want..
Who bigger Everton or Newcastle or West Ham
We are the only club of the 7 who’s always been in the PL who not been in the CL final, havnt even made CL.
The clubs to nice, Where the outrage from Everton over the joke of a punishment for the SL6? Everton should have released a statement calling the punishment what it is a total joke and called the PL weak and pathetic, which they are

Sorry, it must be getting late. I don't understand what you mean.
It's been widely reported the salary Ancelotti received ,we have been a club who have spent in the transfer market yet Conti and other top managers with a history of winning trophies have no interest in managing us. Hope that helps
Well, he made 150 mil in sales, so net spend is 150 mil
And reports that Wolves are selling two of their better players and made no attempt to buy cover for their long-term injured CF would point to why he was...sacked lol

Which young manager in his right mind would look at our squad and realistically think with the deadwood that a quick turnaround in our fortunes would be a realistic project.
