Apparently Joyce has more or less said it is Benitez, according to some folk out there. Apparently we have completely ruled out Galtier and have 'cooled' our interest in Nuno.

Can't check the article myself to verify it as it is behind a Times paywall.

This really would be our lowest point as a football club. There is almost nothing that could make me be done with the club, but this is one of those things. I'm actually contemplating being pathetic and emailing the club to vent my spleen about this if it is true.

Yeah Benitez is unacceptable, it would be crossing the line

Reading the Joyce article, and having been in the sports media for a long time, it stinks of a 'hurry up and sign Nuno' leak. Nuno is clearly holding firm on some unrealistic staffing demands and the Club are now putting on the pressure by saying they've held secondary talks with Rafael so that he drops them and signs.

Joyce is normally very accurate and clearly has the ear of someone within the inner circle at the club (I suspect Bill himself)

It would be a hideous appointment

If benitez was actually close to signing as manager he wouldn't be over 6/1 still on the exchange. Someone would have lapped that up long ago so fear not my friends.

Really hope you are right mate!

Well I've done it anyway guys - I must be losing the plot.

As a grown man, I have put in a complaint to the club, stating reasons why, if the media stories are true, the possible appointment of Benitez would be a disaster and upset the fanbase. Had to stop myself from also asking why they are incapable of showing any vision and coming up with a more exciting alternative to FSW than Nuno or Howe but hey-ho.

I feel sullied by the fact I've just done that. But I'm getting really fed up with how we are run. Maybe I'll look back on this moment as the height of lockdown inspired madness eh?!

This has dragged on for a couple of weeks now (seems like longer!)
Next choice of manager is huge as I feel we are definitely at a crossroads right now.... we've sampled the 'rarified air' of top-6 and I want that to continue, not nose-dive and clinging on by fingertips like Newcastle have done this season
