Yeah agree with this, but only problem is if Italy have a good tournament and the next WC next year I think he’ll stay and see them through the WC.

Let’s do it early and make the offer rather than waiting until the end where it’s conceivable Italy could go very deep in this tournament

Out of curiosity have any of the managers at the euros let it be known that they are leaving their job at the end of the tournament. Maybe that’s what we’re waiting on.
I mentioned this yesterday, there is a rumour we are waiting for England to get knocked out before making a move

Santo, the Portuguese, received a written offer from Everton owner Farhad Moshiri last weekend after the Iranian decided the former Wolves manager was the man he wanted to succeed Carlo Ancelotti.

Mental.

I do think a risk on a smaller name is the best option IMO, likely to have a easier contract to pay off if they get sacked and little baggage
The lad at Barnsley got them in the playoffs, did a decent job getting LASK into Europe. But other than that...

To a certain extent, comparing trophies is useful but not altogether indicative. Ranieri is one of the few managers to have won the PL, but it doesn't mean he'd be any more likely to do a good job than Scott Parker.

Equally, Sean Dyche has done a job that I imagine Pep wouldn't, but Pep can do what Dyche can't.

This is where fans need to be careful of snobbery, and accept a manager who fits their profile and style. Ancellotti is one of the most successful managers in modern football, but it doesn't mean he can out-tactic Steve Bruce on a cold winter evening in Newcastle.
...nor indeed could he at Goodison...

Nuno

EFL Championship 2017-18

That's it unless you want to include his Honorary Doctorate

I have been supporting the blues for 53 years and would still take Benitez over Nuno in a heartbeat and i really couldn't give a toss if he used to work for the RS and insulted us while he was there. All managers play mind games with opponents, it is meaningless. All i am interested in is Everton and whatever it takes is fine with me. If he wants the job even though he knows that there will be a massive negative reaction and thinks that he can change that with what he is up against then feck it i will give him a chance. There is absolutely no comparison between the two of them and so what if it has been 6 or 7 years since winning anything of significance. It is better to have done it all then never done anything of significance whatsoever.

Carlo Ancelotti honours:

Demonstrable success at Everton: 0

And, to be honest, did we really see much to indicate he was making improvements? I really don't have a problem with something Benitez said over a decade ago - those who take umbrage with the 'small club' jibe are, to my mind, being overly defensive - but I don't see him as the guy we need and I seriously don't think historic achievements are indicative of present abilities. He was popular at Newcastle because he immediately promoted them (not insignificant but certainly expected) and was polarized against their villain chairman, not because he made any dramatic improvements to the squad or playing style in the PL.

If we're comparing CVs, surely the thing to look for is experience overhauling an underachieving squad, working well with a DoF, and showing consistent relative improvement at a club over the medium term?* Benitez, much like Ancelotti, hasn't really done that for over 15 years. I think he's probably a better manager than NES, but neither really excites.

* Of course, there probably aren't a huge pool of options who tick those boxes, and is clearly why Galtier has a big pocket of support.

Would much rather have Nuno over Benitez.

I feel we'll get sick and bored of Nuno within the next 18-24 months and will be looking to get rid of him and be back to square one, however, there's most certainly worse options out there - so just get him signed on the dotted line, bin "BIG DUNC" off, get the rest of his staff in and put us all out of our misery.

Just to put it out there, are the Club looking for a "safe" option to get us into Bramley Moore then complete re-evaluate what they want etc?
