I hope we get Potter just so you can touch yourself silly over our Xg numbers while we're getting humped all over the shop in a relegation fight.
It's funny because had we got closer to the season withit Carlo still manager I was probably going to suggest I wouldn't have been surprised for us to be struggling down that end. It depends on who we sign obviously, but the football was so bad the second half that it wouldn't have taken a huge amount to go wrong for Carlo to have us sitting 14th in November or something.

Talk about creating a narrative with only a select part of history.

Who did he buy at Liverpool?

Torres
Xabi Alonso
Mascherano
Luis Garcia
Dirk Kuyt
Crouchy
Glen Johnson
Agger
Skrtel
Pepe Reina
Benayoun
Momo Sissoko
Fabio Aurelio
Zenden
Raheem Sterling
Jonjo Shelvey
Suso
Insua
Ayala
Paletta

He also wanted to buy Aguero, Vidic, Dani Alves, David Silva and Aaron Ramsey at Liverpool, but the club wouldn't sanction the moves. So he was hamstrung.

At Newcastle he was promised money which never materialised. He was given his 5th or 6th choice signings. News has come out recently that he had a deal in place for Bruno who went to Man Utd and Ruben Dias who joined City.

He has a very good eye for talent. Don't forget he also signed Casameiro, Danilo, Kovacic and Lucas Vasquez at Madrid. Advised Liverpool to purchase Coutinho from him at Inter, when he was leaving. Had scouted Luis Suarez at Liverpool for 18 months before he joined at which point Rafael had already left, Jorginho, Higuain, Koulibaly, Mertens, De Guzman, Callejon, Albiol, Gabbiadini at Napoli. Almiron, Schar, Fernandez, Dubravka, Rondon at Newcastle.

Oh look, the Benitez fan boy is back. Every post you've ever made on GOT is about Benitez and how brilliant he is.

Until a week ago, you hadn't posted for 18 months, since our last manager search, when you signed off with some bitter digs about Ancelotti and how we should have gone for your hero. As soon as Benitez gets mentioned in the media as our potential new manager, you start posting again.

You're so far up his arse you're beyond blinkered. You also seem to know a lot about the RS.

I'm sure we wouldn't be against winning the Europa League and finishing 3rd whilst absolutely smashing attacking and defensive stats over the season.

Just for clarity Roman actually wanted Rafael to carry on the project and was willing to give him a further 2 year contract but feared the Backlash from the fans. Rafael was actually supposed to take over in the summer, but Di Matteo won the Champions league and so Roman didn't think it would be fair to get rid of him, so waited until form slipped and Rafael came in. Rafael and Roman are still on good terms.

Stop pretending to be an Everton fan, because it's very obvious you're not.

To be fair to him with the players at his disposal and injuries at key times he didn't really have much of a chance. Every time we had to take the game to a side the failings of the squad were evident. And sadly any of the top managers will have seen enough to know that the poor squad will be like a millstone before they get anywhere.
You always have a choice. You're never resigned to playing complete dross. Even Sean Dyche has a choice.

Which is a perfectly rational and acceptable position to hold.

It's the "I'M DONE WITH EVERTON IF Rafael GETS IT" that I find incredible
I think a lot of that is cumulative though. We've been so bad for so long and we needn't have been. The football has been dire and the results have too.

Benitez is long in the tooth and we know what we are going to get- which is more negative dross and a style that won't come close to exciting the fans. Add to this that he has many of the flaws that we haven't liked in previous failed managers and it is hard to take.

In a younger manager, it is possible to harbour hope that they may learn new things/change mentality (even Nuno who I have deep reservations about) but Benitez is Benitez - and what we'll be served up is not going to be pretty.

We also accept (mostly) as fans that we may have to do things differently; by signing young players developing them and selling them on - like Lille, Leicester and countless other sides- and bringing in the next talent until we reach a stage where we can compete. Benitez won't be that kind of manager.

Since 2000 we've endured Smith, Moyes, Martinez, Koeman, Allardyce, Silva and Ancelotti and have been served up turgid football and a team of bottlers by all of them (the best performers in these categories probably being Moyes and Martinez).

The frustration comes from a desire to be something different - something Benitez won't do. It'll just be more of the same.

I'm pretty sure Benitez finished outside of the top 4, for the first time in the post Abramovich era.

Can I ask you a serious question mate. Are you a Big Red fan or a Newcastle fan?

I reckon the media are just making up numbers and speculating. Throw enough names into the equation and eventually one will stick and then it will be case of 'you heard it here first!'. Reckon the Board really haven't made up their minds, yet. Moshiri is probably still p*ssed with Ancelloti and really doesn't want to jump at the first available option for fear of coming a cropper AGAIN. Maybe he should leave it to DBB as she probably has more nous than the lot of them put together - a woman's intuition and all that, she would see through the bull sh*tters right away.
