So you’re saying we should just appoint a manager who’s never won anything because our squad is crap?
No that we need a manager for the long term. And Rafael isn't it and has a big ego to boot. Ideally we could find our version of Poch/Rogers who can get results and rebuild us. CV is one thing but it doesn't guarantee success when your squad isn't good enough. In that case you need a long term identity and great recruitment like say Leicester. Just getting a "name" isn't going to instantly make us compete look at the last few years...

Moshiri doesn’t care about the fan base he will do what is best for his investment. He cannot afford for us to be relegated.

So that means bye bye to any fanciful thoughts of hiring Graham Potter or any up and coming Dutch manager Brands picks out of a hat. Look at what Frank De Boer and Cocu did at Ajax and PSV and then what they did at Palace and Derby.

Moshiri has seen how easy it was for us to get sucked right back into relegation battles under Koeman and Silva. He’s also seen some of the absolutely pitiful displays last season, the calamity defending we saw against Spurs, Rochdale bossing our midfielders on our own patch, the never ending injuries, Keane and Siggurdson falling over a stationary football. Why would he entrust this basket case to an unproven manager, or worse yet to one who has already failed with us?

He wouldn’t which is why I think his profile all along was for someone with prem experience who will keep us in the league and get rid of a lot of these players. That’s probably why Nuno and Benitez are looking like favourites. We don’t have a top squad we could give to a Galtier type or god forbid a Conte. These charlatans would just have them fired after half a season.

It’s not popular but I can see why Moshiri has done it if he goes with either Nuno or Benitez. The players have shown they cannot be trusted not to have us in a relegation scrap. They’ve brought this type of manager on themselves with their disgraceful professionalism. Remember when Moyes said that his team could manage themselves? This lot are a far cry from that, most of them are lazy con artists stealing a living, and if their noses are put out by Rafael or Nuno marching them through relentless defensive drills then so be it, they deserve it, I hope it drives them out the club.

Imagine getting one of those fancy pre match meal things and you’ve got Rafael Benitez taking your order. I couldn’t take him seriously if he’s going to insist on doing things like that. It would just be ridiculous. I mean, who would do the team talk if he’s farting around in the kitchens and what not?

You read this, ponder for about 2.5 seconds, and remember he appointed Marco Silva, a walking relegation.

Let's just accept that Moshiri is a clueless bell and the most destabilising influence at the club.

That makes sense on the face of it.

I think its all very strange, hes gone for Nuno then leaked Benitez to then turn the fans opinion on Nuno around.

If the media is to be believed. It would be pathetic to hire either manager.

Hopefully its just the interview process and the managers are the ones leaking to the media.

I’m not a big fan of Benitez as a man but he’s a winner. He’s won the Championship, the FA Cup, La Liga (twice!), the Champions League etc.

He’s better qualified than some of the guys we’ve been linked with.

plus the kopites will have to ditch that banner!!

A lot is made of the small team jibe but we’d just been fighting against relegation and didn’t have a pot to pee in.

There going mad about it, the first caller on Talk Sport was kicking off and the banners was his first point Haha

The reds on their various forums are absolutely fuming at the prospect of one of their greats joining us.

I’d take him in a heartbeat. He’s won La Liga twice with mediocre teams, as well as the FA Cup and the Champions League.

The “small team” jibe didn’t infuriate me as much as it did others. He was obviously referring to our underdog status. Don’t forget we’d just finished 17th.
He’s won the Europa League, too.

I’d kill just to be in the Europa League!

We need someone to come in and build a rapport with the clubs and get some pride back in the club after Ancelotti left us looking like fools. This appointment achieves exactly the opposite.

Imagine Rsfa brings his own team in, which he probably will, and sacks Big Dunc.
