Apparently these players played for both Merseyside clubs:
  • Steve Mcmohan
  • Peter Beardsley
  • David Johnson
  • Sander Westerveld
  • Kevin Sheedy
  • Nick Barmby
  • Abel Xavier
  • Dave Hickson
Was it the end of the World?
Nope.

So what if Mr.Benitez joins us!
The World will keep turning.

Provided, of course, we are successful. Is that too much to ask?
Alan Harper, and Gary Ablett to that list .....

Dear me. I personally wouldn't want to have prejudice against any manager but this could very well diminish Moshiri's stock within our fan base if Benitez decision goes south.

Benitez is either brimming with confidence that he can give what Everton need or he has conned our naïve board into believing so.

I'd accept Benitez only if its Brands' call. But we'll never get that answer clearly would we? Bigger than managing Everton, Benitez would have to convince our vast majority of fan base why he is the right man.

If Moshiri has appointed Benitez then:

1. Why give Brands a new contract? Is he a 'yes man' puppet? If Brands has any dignity or self confidence, as soon as he finds a more supporting club, he should resign.
2. We may see 'Fat Waiter Out' banners within a year, with Moshiri taking much of the blame.

All said, if it is Benitez, then I'll keep my reservations on the side for now and hope that within a year we see a bit of improvement in squad and tactical decisions in key games. If he starts off by tossing Gomes, Delph and Iwobi out, I'd be pleased.

Gomes and Iwobi perhaps, but Delph is exactly the sort of player Benitez would sign.

The reds on their various forums are absolutely fuming at the prospect of one of their greats joining us.

I’d take him in a heartbeat. He’s won La Liga twice with mediocre teams, as well as the FA Cup and the Champions League.

The “small team” jibe didn’t infuriate me as much as it did others. He was obviously referring to our underdog status. Don’t forget we’d just finished 17th.
Brilliant post.

I’d much rather have a proven winner like Benitez than a Graham Potter or a Steve Bruce. Or Pulis, who we’ve also been linked with.

I don’t think this is even a Liverpool thing for me. I mean I suppose it is a bit but I’d gladly take Rodgers. I just can’t stand Benitez.
Exactly! People don't really get it, but Benitez has ceased to seem like a professional top level manager years ago. Rodgers on the other hand may also have a RS connection but he is a top manager that I am willing to see announced with no single moan about.

And that is why they call us the Bitters mate.

Again it's not just who he has managed or what he has said it's that he doesn't even fit the brief of what we need yes he WAS a good manager over a decade ago but we need hunger, identity and a long term appointment. He is negative, on the wane and short term. And will also be thrown in our faces. We need a long term rebuild and an identity throw in how divisive his appointment is and it's a recipe for more disaster.

At least with Fat Sam we knew it was short term with Rafael he will sink his teeth in and we will be the ultimate banter club again, the media love rubbing our faces in it. Even if we have results I still can't feel that connection with him I still can't accept him. That's how bad this appointment would be for me.

Alan Harper, & Gary Ablett to that list .....never let us down ......
I just said it isn't just who he has managed and what he has said although those are bad enough it's that he isn't what we need right now. Another short term fix for a long term rebuild. It finally confirms that we are a hopeless shambles led by someone who hasn't got a Scooby about football or our fan base.

Brilliant post.

I’d much rather have a proven winner like Benitez than a Graham Potter or a Steve Bruce. Or Pulis, who we’ve also been linked with.
A proven winner and he last won something when? Also we have been over this with Carlo, ok having a "proven" manager but if the players and squad aren't good enough then they aren't magicians there's a reason he didn't over achieve at the Barcodes.
