I'm never normally one desperate for news from the club. I understand they are going through a process (whatever that may be) to select our next manager but i do think the silence is now starting to work against them. There is far too much speculation which is allowing us the fans and the media to have a field day. Admittedly i know they're not likely to say we're not in talks with X but something would be nice to keep us a little bit more informed than we are being at the moment.

Bruce is not accepted at Newcastle because he managed Sunderland! Same as Graham, McLeish, Redknapp etc. Players are not the same as managers.

I did not once say it would be the first thought. The next day it will be all "ah you only did it with a red in charge" in a really phony scouse accent of course.

Benitez is not this magical key to beating Liverpool either. None of this will happen anyway.

Again though none of this matters one iota. If the fans are not having him then the fans are not having him.

Oh and people moan about you regarding DCL because it's an incredibly daft opinion. No other reason!

Newcastle fans don’t want Bruce because he’s a dinosaur journeyman who hasn’t really achieved anything in management. It’s nothing to do with Sunderland.

….I can only guess that the strategy is not to have any more managerial turmoil whilst the ground is being developed. Moshiri wants the team nice and safe and if that means European qualification and decent runs in the cup, then all the better.

He won’t want risk, he won’t be wanting to go through this process every 18months. I think he’ll be wary of a bright young progressive type who wants to build a new team.

That seems exactly that. I'd add a couple of extra things in. Firstly to have some continuity from last season. Benitez is not going to try and implement a massively different style and there really shouldn't be a massive handover period difficulty. He may also be of the view you need to have a certain level of experience, maturity, age and winning expertise to handle the unique pressures of the club. Perhaps even getting some name recognition to potentially attract players.

It wouldn't be how I would do it, but it's clearly his plan. I am always drawn to his "hollywood manager" phrase, which always felt quite odd, but clearly he wants a big name in charge.

I don't believe the club are leaking things to gauge fans' reaction to certain names, but I think they might leak stuff so fans think something is happening. It's been 2 weeks after all.
I think it’s agents myself. Going by reports that Moyes and Rangnick were under the impression they had got the job last time it seems like both the Nuno and Benitez camps have had encouragement from the board but it doesn’t necessarily mean anything where Everton are concerned lol
