You can say that about anything though, even yourself, but you will hold yourself to values and standards. It’s self perception.

I believe whether we’re winning the league or In Div 4 there is a set of values and standards in the culture of the club. It’s fine if you don’t agree but I do think it sets us apart and I think they are self affirming. I think that where Dave is coming from.

Our clubs standards are very high don't get me wrong.

The fans though? They are a law onto themselves. Just because people deem themselves to be an Everton fan does not give them an automatic right to be a sound person. Some guy painting a bedsheet does not reflect on us in any way shape or form, unless you let it do so.

Not in the least bit surprised. At the same time though I did not start kicking off at RS fans who had nothing to do with it.

Very true, but human behaviour is governed in the main by conformity to group norms of values and permissions. If we normalise Kopite behaviour and reinforce it, then standards drop and we end up in the gutter, where it’s ok to have see you next Thursday banners everywhere, every time we hit a bit of adversity.

That’s where Mordor are.

But if Mordor appointed Joe Royle and had those banners up around Snake Mountain we’d all be scathing of them, we need to hold ourselves to our own standards.

Yes we'd be up in arms because it's our legend they're taking aim at? Personally if they were on the brink of appointing say Ryan Giggs or John Terry as manager and put up banners with swearing aiming at their personal lives I'd be pretty indifferent to the whole thing, if not find it very funny they'd found themselves in the situation.

It's one banner with few naughty words on it. Dare I say Rafael Benitez will have heard far worse out of the mouths of Everton fans many times before. I'm not sure it's something that we need to hold ourselves to higher standards about, it's one banner that will have been taken down by the club by now, nothing permanent like paint. No different to what countless people will have said online or in person except this one may actually deliver a message to the board

Well apparently anyone here who opposes those banners has 'caved'...so we are.

I and others are 100% against Benitez being employed here. Seemingly, if you're not uber against Benitez with this graffiti you're with the board in their pursuit of him. That type of behaviour is called out as cultist when they do it...

Well that's just someones opinion isn't it? It's not mine.

I just think you (and many others) are overreacting to this. It's one bored scruff painting a bedsheet. It is not a reflection on our club, on you or on anyone else.

And I am massively against banners' always have been but I am not going to beat ourselves up over the actions of one person who has not actually harmed anybody or even caused any damage.

Of course I would. But we have also done many things in the past that I have hated.

I would like to think we wouldn't do what they did to the Liver Building but I also put that down to them thinking Moshiri owns it so its an Everton thing (They are a bit thick like that).

If for some reason we had won the league and we were near Anfield celebrating (Dont ask me about the logistics, just go with me here) do I think that big ugly ground of theirs would take a pelting from some people? Absolutely it would because some people are knobheads regardless of who they support.

When I heard he was going to get the job , thought wow weird didn't know what to think especially when Nuno was favourite before and alot weren't happy, maybe just a opinion they should just give it to the big fella Duncan see how it pans out by Christmas , if Rafael gets it toxic goodison awaits..this can't go on we need to be together and this is the only option for now going by the options out there.at the moment imo

That's getting too deep now! I am backing out, all I wanted to say is that it does not define us and although it shows an inkling of kopite behavior there is a long way to go before we are at that point.

Indeed each to their own, no issue with that and as always I respect your opinion even if I don't 100% agree with it here.
