This would be madness!

We are one of the best paying clubs in the world in terms of management.

Throwing even more cash at someone who doesn't what to be here is going down the Koeman route.

He would be my favoured choice but I can totally understand why he wants to manage Nice, lovely part of the world. He also had talks with them months back so maybe he is a man of his word.
I was being tongue in cheek. The big hinderance i mentioned would be exactly what youre talking about here. I dont actually think its a great idea. I do think we should try to persue Galtier in a big way tho.

What gets me is the amount of journalists desperate for Rafael, desperate and will defend and explain the appointment until they are blue in the face. All of the Liverpool echo lot and Athletic lads all writing reams of explanation. Sky running up clip montages of his time at Liverpool every time we play... When the fella shouldn't be anywhere near our job.

Django on NSNO.
He's said it's looking likely hasn't he? Just feels the same as end of last week.

Don't keep up much on NSNO but I think he has stuff right in the past, a lot of people with connections said it was looking likely last week too - am just hoping it's wrong.

Genuinely do feel like it'll be the last nail in the coffin for me, sat through Sam with the mantra of I support the club and they wouldn't do it without extreme circumstances... we are not in that position and this is a worse appointment.

….good point, Carragher also giving him a platform on Sky some time ago to try & worm out of his ‘small club’ jibe.

it’s as though he had this job in mind for a long time & got his media buddies to canvass for him.

Yes, yes, and yes.

It's because they know that they will get copy out of it until (and for a brief period, after) his inevitable sacking.

Quite the contrast to Keys and Gray.

Andy Gray is a gammony blert but he clearly still cares about the club. Anyone with any knowledge of the match-going fan base of the club know this would be a disaster. Every loss, every nil-nil against inferior opposition at home, every defensive substitution will result in nothing but toxicity from the stands. It's a stupid appointment and if Moshiri makes this happen I'll be utterly done with him, stadium or no stadium.

And you know WHEN it goes bad they'll paint it as "Everton are a poisoned chalice, if even BENITEZ can't do anything there who can??" even tho he's literally the worst possible choice.
