Appointing Benitez would indicate the the finger of the board couldn't be further from the pulse. On the other hand it would show leadership on their part, not making decisions based on the majority. They could do that however by appointing a less divisive character also. I would love to be proved wrong and Benitez does a Chelsea on it again but it's hard to shake the sense of doom on this one. No exciting feeling of expectation, just a sense it'll all end in tears

Since Martinez' last season. Since then I moved down from Canada to West Virginia and started a supporters club down here. A growing youtube channel. (With revenue stream) aaarrrrgghh matey.
Um. It looks like enough time to understand that Everton won't finish above Liverpool with or without the fat knobhead. Especially with him.

Its a strange one - on one hand you do need a manager who the fanbase and club can unite behind (look at us under Moyes) and sadly that lot under Klopp.

However on the other hand - are there any managers out there currently available who we have been linked with who you would say would unite the fanbase?

I dont think there is any other than perhaps Galtier who looks Nice bound. I think if the club had the proper level of ambition they would be knocking down the doors of clubs managed by the likes of Biesla/Kovac and throwing x amount of money at them to tempt them away.

I still wouldn't mind a punt on Zidane think he would be worth a look at more than your Lampards and Nuno's of the world. Would also command the respect of the dressing room.
Finding a manager to unite the fanbase.... and appointing one that the vast majority are fervently opposed too are two very different things. Most of the choices are admittedly underwhelming but I think the likes of Nuno would at lease be given a chance. Silva and Martinez weren't hugely popular at the start but it took more than two bad games to turn the crowd against them. Benitez will get no goodwill and no patience... which I think are valuable commodities in the modern game.

Proper dragging on this now. Wouldn't mind if we were casting the net far and wide, but seems like we're focussed around 2-3 managers only. Get a move on and hire anyone but Benitez ffs.
It’ll probably be Benitez as there’s too much smoke for there not be fire but you do have to wonder why it’s taking so long to confirm. The man they supposedly want is available, he’s been interviewed multiple times and if the club were that convinced he’s the man (regardless of the us fans) you’d imagine it would be done by now. Could we be waiting for someone else to become available?

If they drag it out long enough they'll be hoping the fans will eventually be relieved that we finally have a manager rather than protesting that it's a kopite taking a massive step down to small club.
