Looks like Li Tie is out unfortunately. Planning for the world Cup. Missed out there.

We'd probably get confused and appoint Li Weifeng instead

We haven't been seriously threatened by relegation in years . Keeping us in the Premier league is not a major ask ffs.

If any manager ever takes us down then it will be the worst job in the history of the PL.

Even in the years people panicked, we still finished at least 6 places off relegation. Taking us down would be very difficult given the dreadful standard of the bottom 6 or 7 every year.

There were a few who booed on Sam's first day against Huddersfield. Most just stood there like me with glum faces wondering what in the world had happenned.

With Benitez it will be on a far different level. The vast majority of supporters, match going and not match going, do not support this appointment. They pride themselves on being the people's club and on taking fan opinion on board, but we all know now that those are just words and very hollow words. This regime have zero understanding of the club and seem intent on making our lives following the club utterly miserable.

He'll be announced this week and there'll be a full month of PR overdrive from the club and from Benitez before the first game, as I've said myself he wouldn't be my choice at all, but I reckon between now and the first game the proportion of supporters who are massively against it will get smaller and smaller. Especially if we start getting some exciting players in.

I find it amazing that so many people are hung up on the small club comment. Benitez had 36,000 evertonians seething with rage calling him every name under the sun and singing calling him a fat spanish waiter.
If he gets the job and can move on surely we can too.
and that is just before his "alleged" appointment. Imagine for a second just how bad it WILL get

But this idea is just in people's heads at the moment.

There won't be any boos at Goodison on day 1 (well maybe a few, but barely audible), because we all have the same goal which is to see Everton do well.

He'll pick up some results early on, if he goes on a run of losing five games on the bounce then yeah the fans will turn on him but that's the same with any manager.
Literally anything negative will be ceased upon and amplified. Nothing like the Goodison faithful when it's got a snarl on, all part of the experience and charm of that sardonic wit. Benny appointment will just be nasty and tribal. And guess what football is tribal it's football very foundation is legitimate tribalism.

Ha good one

no success can come under Benitez so I look forward to when this is all over.

I don't know why Everton fans think he's finished. Rafael probably gets a dozen job offers every week. Celtic would take him in a heartbeat. One of the stingiest chairmans in the game Mike Ashley offered to pay the same contract as we gave Ancelotti.

The criticism of his managerial skills is over the top on here.

I wouldn’t say the dissenters will get smaller and smaller, just the stark realisation that there is nothing you can do about it.

Well that's it really. I mean we could, we could all go and protest outside Goodison, but that's about the only way to make this bad situation even worse right now.

From a load of 20 year olds, booing him coz he called us a small club even though they don't even remember him saying it?

I can't imagine it'll be grown men booing as that'd just be sad.

Allardyce wasn't booed on day 1 despite 99% of the fanbase being against him. I know there's a bit more history with Benitez, but still can't see him getting booed.
Allardyce was a horrid stain in our history, records will still show it as fact that he managed our club, which was bad enough

FSW would be much more of a permanent unremovable SCAR on our club, he simply is not the man for us, in any form.

I tend to agree. Not my first choice but then again sitting in the main stand with my son I don't really have a say so hey. The powers that be will surely make a decision on what they think is the way forward.
What I do know is that us fans are never totally happy. Some around me wanted Stones gone, didnt think lukaku was great, last year wanted Pickford sold...............I could carry! Just want it sorted so we can move forward and start the prep for next season!

Because he told the whole world he no longer felt he could manage at a high level by going to China. It's not that complicated really.
