I find it crazy that people are talking about seriously being ‘done’ with Everton, not renewing their tickets etc if Benitez gets the job.

he called us a small club 15 years ago. Let’s move on. We are currently a mid table team.

if you don’t want him because he doesn’t play great football, fine but we haven’t played good football since Martinez first season. So that’s not a reason to be done either.
We’re football fans, not members of a cult. I find it really difficult to get my head round how some people don’t understand that others might decide they don’t want to waste time and money doing something they don’t want to do anymore. It’s a little bit scary how some people seem to think you just have to bend over and accept whatever the club does to be honest, I suppose it explains the political situation in the country.

Dyche….must be the time difference as some of you been on the ale from early . Just give it back to big Sam

Few of you need a break from this forum and let it run its course

Dyche is a decent manager mate - the problem is he is ginger and english with a gruff name therefore he's a dinosaur.

He has kept a league one sized club in Burnley in the Premier League with the 18th lowest net spend and the 16th lowest wage bill and has had them finish 7th & 10th in 5 seasons.

Meanwhile Potter has spent more to finish something like 15th & 16th in two consecutive seasons yet "lets give em a go lads" because his football is fancy.

What people want, I think, is hope.

You either get that with a superstar name or with someone who at least offers potential that they might turn out to be beyond just good, like Pochettino when Southampton got him. With a manager who has been 20 or 30 years in the game, they won't change their spots, you know what you are getting.

The issue with this process is that most of those linked, don't offer that hope, its very credible to argue Benitez is past his sell-by date and outdated tactically, despite what is a very good record overall.

I'll admit Potter and Galtier were my top choices.

I'll need a shrink by the end of this, so luckily I thought ahead and booked an appointment for today, prepare for Benitez incoming ffs

Reflecting on the whole situation it’s clear that Carlo has absolutely shafted us, and that Benítez or otherwise, they need to get a new manager in very soon.

Probably my biggest bug bear with Ancelotti leaving us as he did is that the crap fringe players stealing a living will probably now get another year to prove themselves under a new manager. We also won’t be signing anyone until the new man comes in, so essentially we’re in limbo. That Nunes is clearly one that’s lined up, but the longer we leave it the more chance his agent touts him elsewhere or another club comes in.

There’s also the not so small issue of existing players who will want to leave, I’d wager that James, Kean, Richarlison, and probably even Allan and Digne will be onto their agents touting them elsewhere. Who can blame them given the uncertainty? And do we in fact care? We were crap even with Ancelotti and with most of them playing (or out injured) and it says a lot that the only one I’d be really arsed about leaving is Digne.

I don’t want Benitez but Moshiri clearly does, I see absolutely no benefit to dragging this out any longer. I’ll never like the man but if he provides us with stability for 2 years which we badly need, then he’ll leave without my opinion of him deteriorating further.

I wouldn't mind either ... At the moment . I think there will be a few here who will at least secretly agree with me at this moment in time .

I would have Dyche over Benitez - I used to think Dyche was crap but about 18 months ago my mate started a job at Burnley and what he's told me about Dyche is exactly what I think we have missed at this club since Moyes went - bloke runs the club top to bottom, in at 6.30am and last to leave the training ground.

Works his arse off to keep that club in the Premier League on a shoestring budget - maybe with the money we have to spend he could take the next step up?

They are both good manages who have done great jobs in tough circumstances during their careers. Eddie Howe can fit that bracket too.

Its weird, I'm not sure if any of them are an ideal fit for us but I hate how people just crap all over the work people have done purely because of them not fitting our profile. Taking any club up four levels like Potter and Howe have done is a remarkable achievement.

The minute he's appointed we need to show our feelings and make sure he is replaced asap. It's going to be a monumental catastrophe for the club and an embarassment.

If the board appoint him, then they all need to go because they don't understand anything about the club.

This seems a bit extreme like. A monumental catastrophe? Why? Because he called us a small club 15 years ago?

I didn't want him either but we're getting him and we should get behind it from the first game otherwise we're only in for another nothing season.

Looks like Li Tie is out unfortunately. Planning for the world Cup. Missed out there.

Former blue, knows the area (which seems to be important all of a sudden) a Marcelo Lippi disciple...I'm all in.

Oh and good for breaking into the Chinese market obviously...

Dyche got relegated with Burnley before he brought them back up and consolidated in the PL. Done a similar job to what Curbishley did at Charlton and done very well. Whether those methods translate at a bigger job is open to question.

Potter's been there two seasons and there's been good progression. The league position can be held against them last season and the whole XG thing is a cliche. If you put a DCL in that team last season though, or anyone who can hit a barndoor, they could have been a lot higher up. They were regularly having far more possession and shots than their opponent while we were the other way and really blagging results before it caught up with us.
