Unfortunately I don't see Benitez lasting more than 18 months either... He would have to be in Europe or at least fighting for it for that to be the case...wouldnt he?

I would think so - However if he's backed with transfer money and Brands brings in the right players then who knows. One things for certain he will be expected by the fans to achieve a great more than any other other manager simply because of who and what he is.

On the flip side however is that Benitez has the press and media in his back pocket. So he will get an easy ride from them for sure.

The point originally was that Ancelotti got away with last season.
I disagreed and pointed out that our finishing position was possibly the lowest we had been all season, so Ancelotti was probably being judged more harshly than what the season merited. I don't think Benitez was part of the discussion at all.

However, you are right , if Benitez had a home record similar to last season I think it would be a challenge for him to get out of Goodison alive.

I'm not all that arsed about him being ex red or the comments - for me, how can he be the best candidate in world football to take this club forward?

Maybe he was that man 10 years ago - he's done nothing to suggest that he is with his recent managerial posts and finishing positions in some turd leagues.

Its comparable to saying Trump and Biden were the best candidates to run America, I mean they have over 350 million to choose from and they arrived at those 2
