I think the reservations held by people are more than understandable, and I’m not looking to pick any fights.

But, at the end of the day any anger should be directed to those who appointed him, not RB himself. It’s not as though he’s conned his way in, or appointed himself.

The banners are just petulant nonsense.

We’ve been crying out for a manager to clear out the deadwood, and as far as I can see this choice may bring about the best chance for that thus far. He’ll have my initial backing if he can manage to remove the scourge of Siggy, Iwobi and co from our colours.

At the end of the day we all want what’s best for the club and I suspect we’ll end up judging his tenure more on who he gets rid of rather than where we finish this season.

If he is our Manager then I hope he will be remembered for doing better than he did with RS.

Like Bolassie and Besic you mean.
To an extent yes. Granted they didn't leave but they were left under no illusions they wouldn't play for the 1st team.

That then comes down to the integrity of the sportsmen involved. What is greater, the love of the game or the money you are picking up. Bearing in mind these are millionaires multiple times over.

It’s not justified, hiding behind faux emotion isn’t a justification, and if you or anybody else is really that emotional about it, you should really find something else to do with your time. Everton will destroy you

Not having this. He needs to improve on this year. 10th place and 59 points is not good enough. If Benitez isn't good enough to finish higher in the league than half of the other clubs and if he can't improve the points total that the current gang of slugs achieved with the worst home record in recent history then he isn't good enough. Some of you need to raise your ambitions.
It's hardly likely that any manager will beat one of the best points totals we've managed in years with "the current gang of slugs".

Some of you need to be realistic.

So, he is a worse manager than Ancelotti then? Good job we've totally divided the fan base and damaged relations between the fans and the club to get him in. What should our aim be, 40 points like back in the good old days?

As a club, we always went into a competition, league or cup, expecting to win...Moyes and his knife to a gunfight lowered expectations for a generation of Evertonians. I happen to be of the ilk that always expected success, and we did. So before you have a go at those of us who have seen 4 titles and numerous cups, we are a big club, who should be winning things, and not looking to get above 8th which is absolute failure...,,and you can shove your blue unicorn up your arse.....
I've seen titles and cups. I also realize that football's changed since the premier league started. We're no longer a big club. We have no right to win anything. We need to build again to reach those heights, if indeed it's possible to catch the big boys and their ridiculous wealth. That can't happen overnight.

And if you can't ride your unicorn safely you shouldn't own one.

Most football fans agreed that Ancelotti was the best manager we'd had in a generation so yes, he's likely to be worse. And to be clear, I don't want him, but expecting miracles from any manager with this squad is unrealistic. And points is irrelevant - league position matters.
