Not sure if that’s true or not, but just a little anecdote i was told by a member of the catering staff at Melwood, it was their annual kids Xmas party at Melwood all the players and their kids where there, she said all the players especially the Spanish lads where great including Benitez he had loads of time for all the kids and the staff, playing with all the kids not just their own. In fact it was Gerrard the club captain who acted like a smacked arse and got off as soon as his kid had got their prezzie. It seems he had a face on him like Davidk avatar.

Fair enough mate. He treated the academy staff he let go very badly by all accounts.

Roll on Tuesday. Onwards and upwards. It will be on page 4 of every sports edition while England will be on the first 3 pages. By and large the media are not really interested in the likes of Everton.
To be fair mate, it is a euro last 16 game against ze Germans on Tuesday.

Reading all the online negativity for our probable new manager. There's little balance and people only too happy to outcompete each other for the wittiest expressions of hate for him or disgust at his appointment. Such negative energy seems to gain a momentum on social media out of all proportion to the issue itself.

I appreciate the response. That's all I'm after really, how many points they reckon Benitez will get.

And of course we will need to recruit well.

I think its important the whole fanbase gets behind the team regardless of the manager. Leicester look like they have moved way ahead of us, Villa will likely cash in on Grealish and have a good £100-150 million to spend to an already good team. Wolves will likely improve on last season and Leeds are a decent side as are WHU.

I fear if elements of the fanbase let the Benitez situation take over from actually supporting the team particularly at home we'll fall down the table this season and its a risky game with the stadium work about to commence.

There is no Conte looking to come aboard - lets just see what the fella does and if he isn't upto much by December then by all means make a concrete opinion on the fella.

I wouldn't mind seeing Gomes, Iwobi, and Delph in particular having a moan in the press or on social media.

I don't see it though, they are too busy spending their highly-deserved riches.

They contribute nothing. Someone needs to rumble them. If that's Benitez he will get my thanks. We can't lose anything with them. Nobody will pay for them.

Either he finds some way to get something from these guys or Brands must be told to find other homes for them by whatever means. We are at ground zero here.

If Benitez if brave enough to tackle that culture, good luck to him. My fears are he wont be.

Spot on old chap. I agree. The curse of social media which stoops to levels of hate which are inconceivable on "normal" media.

I thin despite the bluster mate, most people wil support the team for the 90 minutes. But if Benitez doesnt deliver they will rightly turn on him. It's his job to be competitive with Leicester, and ot be overtaken by sides who finished below us (who may even lose their best players). Obviously if he cant do that, people are going to vent their frustration. Pretty much the same for any manager to be fair.

I know Steve Highway was unceremoniously booted out which was very unpopular at the time ( not sure if that was under Benitez) but you could say that was business.

It was business but it was handled very badly. And in honesty, to great damage to Liverpool, who still probably havent recovered at youth level letting him go

Benitez must be incredibly thick skinned. I don’t think people not liking him will bother him in the slightest. Our kopite friends are very unhappy he is about to manage us. Imagine if he had success here ? Not my choice by any means but I’ll give him a chance.
