Benitez won't be given the same time and patience as another manager. Whether thats right or wrong is another thing, but I feel like this is destined for disaster
I'm liking this part rather than the latter.

Alternatively, with Moshiri appearing so hell-bent to appoint Benitez may mean he'll be accommodating if there's a reason for the appointment - e.g. a shake-up.

it’s a poor appointment simply because the pressure from the fans will be applied from day 1 and will be relentless.

This team will take years to turn around, however because of who and what he is, he won’t be afforded that grace period.

It will culminate in more acts of protest both inside and outside the ground, reduced season ticket sales and the atmosphere at the match will be toxic - with blues turning against blues.

I don’t live in the City anymore so the effect would be reduced almost limited for me, but I understand that for people who live locally it will be a completely different story altogether, They won’t be able to get away from the issue. It will be in the workplace and in the pubs.

Enough to drive you mad. One things for certain it only shows that the board don’t give a flying one about the fans. This is all about protecting future investment. However I’ve a feeling it could all blow up in their face though.

Pretty much the same as every manager is so far from the truth: general consensus on Carlo was he needs time / if someone with his CV can't get better out of their squad who can.
Roll forward FSW: he will be booed before 1st home game and at the end if we produce home performances like last season

But Ancelotti was not going to be given time next season. Not a chance he would have got away with getting less points than this in the eyes of most fans.

He got given time, as he came in mid season to a team that was in the relegation zone under the previous manager.

The new manager is coming in with a full pre season to work with, and a side that got 59 points and was within 8 of the top 4. He doesnt need time in the same way. That's completely understandable.

I can understand the opposition to Benitez's appointment. Some think he is defensive or past it. These are legitimate worries and perspectives. The Liverpool stuff is emotional incontinence. The "FSW" stuff is racist stereotyping and we should be far better than that.
Excellent

My only worry mate is if we do alright but lose the odd game you'll have the fringe element going OTT at the match which puts unnecessary pressure on the side.

Evertonians are respected for being a down to earth fanbase of proper footie fans not the entitled hypocritical scab 6 lot so calm heads must prevail in those first 10 or so fixtures.

I dont even want Benitez but its a sad fact that I worry more about our own fans scuppering next season than the bloke himself in the dugout.

But to be fair, that's pretty what has always happened. This place is a right misery if we lose 1 game! I dont think thats going to change.

I just have no idea what Benitez will shake up really.

A lot of new posters, pro - Benitez posters, popping up over the last few days.

Interesting
I've given up to be honest.

I just preparations to begin

There is a few managers that I've been excited about when we got them and it TOTAL failures, so who knows how results will play out, this could be good or bad but that's the risk for every appointment

But thats the problem isnt it - this squad aint top 4 quality we will lose the odd game if the fans who are just sat waiting for the first hiccup so they can go "I told you so" and start giving abuse cant wait until December then they are best staying at home for the good of the club.

Acting for the good of the club would have been not appointing the most divisive manager available.

People can support the team without supporting the manager. Its not up to anyone to tell others how they should feel about Benitez. The chill out support the team shouts are part of the reason why this club are a shambles who have been in decline for over 30 years.

This appointment doesn't happen at a club with competency or the desire to compete at the top level.

Unfortunately that's the reality if moshiri or who is making the decision have not looked at that scenario they are foolish and don't have any grasp of the appointment

Nah, sorry, "FSW" is a lazy xenophobic stereotype and people can hide that behind whatever semantics they like. The intent is crystal clear: the "othering" of a foreigner.
This is what bothers me - absolutely fine to have concerns as to if he can still cut it, is too defensive etc etc.... but the FSW stuff just makes us look like a bunch of knuckle draggers who wouldn’t look out of place on a Tommy Robinson march.

On social media it is but not at the game certainly not first season anyway imo.

As I've said before Benitez is an easy target to heckle - same as Alladyce he hasn't appointed himself the fans getting all fired up need to take it up with Usmanov/Moshiri.

Barnsley appointing a manager in about 4 days meanwhile its taken us a month and Tottenham twice that. They're paying money to pry him away from a club too. Well-run club.
