Yes we need a manager who will get the respect of the dressing room and bring through young players. It's not that I actively want Lampard but he's the only person in that mould I can think of.

Short term success is now so unlikely without the elite manager so we need to build something long term. We need someone who would immediately command respect in the dressing room, and as an elite player, Lampard would. Presumably the transfer strategy will now move towards youth so we need a manager who prefers working with younger players. Lampard is a gamble but he's the only name I can think of who could fit what we need.

I don't know european football well at all these days, so very happy to admit my opinion is based on limited knowledge.

Would the fact he was poor at Chelsea not give out warning signals. A new manager came in and totally transformed them.

This would be a good appointment. Plays modern, high-press and attacking football which would excite the fans and his win % at Wolves is higher than Carlo's here.

He wouldn’t command the respect of our players, he’s a hugely inexperienced manager. They aren’t going to give a toss what he did as a player, they would absolutely eat him alive. They essentially downed tools on Carlo Ancelotti ffs.
