Probably BK and Moshiri fighting over the appointment inside the building. Hence the delay. Let's see who will win. If RB is not announced today, you bet Bill got the board with him.
What delay?

He signed his contract last week.

He started work yesterday.

Do you really think that owners who know the fans dont want him are in any hurry to confirm it?

Well clearly something is amiss if the best we can get after Ancelotti is Rafael Benitez.

Given our apparent significance and pull.

It’s strange.
I think it's just as simple as that being the profile that Moshiri/Usmanov are looking for. They're not looking at who's a good manager, or a good fit for where we are as a club, or someone who will work well with Brands, they're looking for somebody with trophies and big clubs on their CV. There aren't that many of those around, there are even less who are unemployed (another key requirement) and less again who would manage a club who've only finished above 8th once in 6 years. 'The best we can get' and 'the closest match to what Moshiri is looking for' are not the same thing.

was it Doucoure that was already training with the team before he was announced ? Maybe FSW is already locked in Finch Farm with Brands all day:

Gomes: get rid mate
Delph: christ Brandsie lad, anywhere will do
Tosun: get Rondon for me, then let go
James: if he want to go approve we get Shariqi in, i can call him now son

:)

Incompetent billionaires.
Doesn't sound right
There is a popular misconception that Uzy has made his 21 billion doing dodgy deals with Putin.
He in fact made his money by selling plastic carrier bags after the fall of communism in 91 as demand for retail products escalated.
Is that ok Uncle Uzy ? Do you think they will buy it?

A bit of optimism to fool myself that good things can happen:

Next season under (retch...) Benitez we win the League cup, finish 9th.
The year after, F.a. Cup and Europa runner up 6th in the Prem.
After that, 2nd in league F.a Cup winner and CL finalists then the lot in our first year in the magnificent new home by the dock.

Yeah nah!

No. The club literally haven't said anything. If they kept releasing statements about nearly signing someone and all the interviews etc, yes. But it's all media spin and rumours.

How can the club look in disarray when they are just quietly getting on with what they are doing.
Hence why I asked the question. There are a couple of people who don't agree with you though.

In case it's not apparent, the people in charge have literally no idea what "due diligence" is.

That’s a possibility for sure. Everything else is conjecture. None of us have any idea what the process has been behind the scenes or who was interested or who we targeted initially.

What we do know is the club have taken the experienced route again and for some reason Rafael Benitez appears to be the best option.

From an outsiders perspective I’d say there has to be little options available or interested in the job for us to steep to the levels of hiring him. Especially after having a manager of Ancelotti’s ilk previously.
