I think we need to accept that any manager who is successful with us - or comes with a big reputation, such as Carlo - will be poached as soon as a more attractive destination becomes available. This will only change when we are in a new stadium winning titles.

Any manager who needs "time" to get us into a decent state isn't worth keeping. If he's any good, he'll be gone.

In that sense, we need to hire short term and don't get attached. In that sense, a director of football makes complete sense. ...i think it’s getting increasingly difficult for Academy players to come through the ranks. It might be a recruitment issue, but you just don’t see kids playing footy in the streets like we did growing up, they seem to have other things to do.

The strategy of bringing in talented youngsters seems to be the way to go & we’ve done relatively well with Stones, Holgate, DCL, Lookman, Nkounkou, Branthwaite etc. I’m of the opinion that the really good ones will come through, any manager would want that.
