I think it just underlines that certain managers and jobs are better suited than others.

Just like Pep would flop at Burnley, or Dyche would be rubbish at City. We need a guy with the sort of qualities Moyes had in his day: hard work, dedication to fitness, an eye on long-term building, tireless scouting to get value for money.
There is a lot in what you say, there are many managers who suit certain clubs and can get success. However the chances of hitting lucky are slim so you go with a manager who has had success at different clubs. If we have money to dip into the transfer market in a significant way are true the we don’t need Moyes’ qualities, we need a winner.
If we don’t have money but we still don’t need Moyes‘ qualities as one of those qualities is to jump ship when a better offer comes along.

2 of the above weren't bought and the other 4 where bought by DOFs
Na I got your point but who's to say Potter will want get rid of the above you mentioned?

He'd probably be starstruck by the likes of Iwobi and the Colemans because he's worked with no marks before and therefore less likely to get rid of them.

A top manager will recognise garbage and throw it in the bin.

Except that's exactly what they do take into account?

I'm honestly baffled by this post

What? No it doesn’t. It’s essentially saying “this is the number of big chances you’re creating” and people are looking at it going “see our xG was 5.2 in that game so technically we should’ve won it 5-1!!!”

Yes we should... No mark managers attract no mark players. Modern game unfortunately.

Also where did Brighton finish and what's he even achieved to warrent a mention?
I have always favoured ‘the big name manager to attract better players argument’ but after 18months of Ancelotti who can we say his presence ‘attracted’?
A supremely talented player who only ever plays half a season and a good midfielder, both of whom are definitely past their peak.
Top players choose clubs for two reasons only , trophies and money, who the manager happens to be is a peripheral consideration.

Yeah but you don't build an xG of 5.2 on 5 shots. It would literally take 8 or 9 really big chances, like inside the penalty spot with your strong foot, to get to that.

The hating stats thing makes more sense now I gotta say.

I guess that's the thing. The game is a business now. A guy like Shankly would have got turfed out after a season!

The only reason people want Potter is they look at his XG, and cream their pants. XG does not win you points! His win percentage is 25%, what has this lad done which is so exceptional that he warrants getting the Everton job? He certainly isnt out performing Chris Hughton his predecessor.......

Some need to give their head a wobble!

We need to go for the best out there, nothings guaranteed but the chances of success are alot higher than taking one of the leagues basement boys. Da`s on here saying Moyes has a glass ceiling yet want Potter who has never had even a mid table finish. Cant understand the thought process!

Brendan rodgers finished 11th with his one season at swansea in the premier league before liverpool saw the potential in him. Every good coach/manager has to start somewhere. Potter isnt just on this Everton forum being talked about. His style of coaching and team displays have been talked about by many in the past 18 months taking into consideration what he has to work with at brighton. No idea what this x y z crap is. Its my own eyes that watch his teams play and impressed not just by the football but his approach to games.
Its totaly acceptable to explore someone who is clearly showing signs of potential.
Some Everton fans are so blinkered and have delusions of grandeur its ugly to see.

I never said xG was equivalent to the number of shots??? Why are you making things up again like when you said Lookman was a good player?
