Ralf Rangnick is popular here, but apart from a brief spell at Leipzig he hasn't had a job for ten years. What's the appeal?
He's that rare thing: a director of football with a proven pedigree of success and the gravitas gained from also being a visionary coach.

He nips in and out of coaching responsibilities, when he has to, at the club he oversees - but he is, essentially, everything that Marcel Brands isn't. Rangnick won't be coming to Everton to coach. He'd be coming to take over.

In that sense, he's a wasted bet. The only possible way this man comes to Everton - and Brands stays - is if Brands retreats permanently to the boardroom and relinquishes his current role.

Everyone is a gamble. Even Conte would be.
True just forgive I need to see a bit more than 15th and 16th placed finishes... Just a bit more... Ok we can say his 'underlying stats' of his team are good but do we want to be back in this position in another season or so? Potter has coaching talent I just feel it's a bit soon personally if he had over achieved at Brighton I would be fine with it. As it is it's a risk .

Speaking personally as one who voted for him, it comes down to the following factors:
- excellent record of recruitment and recruiting young, hungry players that were sold on for profits. I know Brands has oversight of this, but they should be on the same page in terms of style of player and he won't spit his dummy out if players need selling on.
- plays gegenpress = good to watch and a style I reckon our fans would like and requires fit, fast, aggressive players.
- has experience of building clubs from the ground up as both manager and DoF.
- Is experienced enough that I don't think he would be swallowed up by the job.
- a good communicator.
-LOADS of good contacts in the game.
- Likes to develop youth.

Not had as much time as a manager as I would like, but overall he ticks many of the boxes of what we need currently imo.

you think we're a catch. only if we stuff their mouth with gold
I just think your post is generally awful tbf.

Who are all these “aging fancy Dans on long contracts” for starters? As far as I know we’ve not got a single player over 28 on a contract of > 2 years.

Think I got carried away by the promise of a manager who offered some actual effort on the pitch (believed to be the founder of gegenpressing). Tbh I’ve flip flopped between all of them at some point..

Oh yes it was......

He's already failed the minute he turns up to play that with our squad.

Davies takes hour's pressing his trousers.
