Martinez talked some pap but he was actually spot on about instilling a style of play into the club - a philosophy if you want to call it that - that would remain in place even when he left.
All levels of the club playing in the same way.

It went sour for him but we should have stuck with that plan - what did we do? Go straight for the pragmatic Koeman and then long ball Allardyce. Absolute mess of long term thinking.
Which is why stalling on Favre and having him decide to not wait for us is do damning. He would have been a great natural evolution from Martinez, instead we ripped it all up and started from scratch for no reason with that Dutch idiot.

Why? Everton talk to him then 4/5 days later he’s on the verge of the palace. If we wanted him he wouldn’t have that close to palace. I will amazed if Nuno gets it now.

Apart from that I haven’t a clue
Its like buying a car, you might look at one, then another then go back to the first, its the same for the manager and the club, we will speak to several people, including Rafael, and likewise Nuno will want to talk to others, i would do the same if i was either an employer or looking for a job.

We love a good first. First club to hire a female coach. I wouldn’t be surprised. What about the Chelsea coach. Kelly something or other?

Emma Hayes?

Sarina Weigmann would probably be the one if we were to go that route.

I still like my thought of having a guest manager each week. Have them wear the Mr Testicles outfit during the game and run a sweep in the ground where people have to guess who it is and win a prize kind of like that Masked Singer show. We could sell loads of limited time merch too. Get your Tony Pulis caps after our famous 1-0 park the bus victory over Manchester City etc.

We could have a manager for each weekly challenge we faced.

Think outside the box...

I’d go balls deep for Conte
If as rumoured we are looking for 100m in investment for transfers plus our normal 60-70 m that could give Conte the funds he needs to shape a 3-5-2
A top class CB to go with Godfrey and Mina /Keane /Holgate
A top class RWB
Digne as LWB
Keep JPG Alllan Doucoure James and sign 2 more CM (sell the rest of the midfielders )
DCL / Ricarlison and I think Conte would get a tune out of Kean
That’s 4 players for 160-200m and we would be ok for a first 11 but lacking a bit in depth
Conte is a proven winner both here and abroad and is passionate about the job
If we paid Carlo 11m a year we can afford Conte
Plus he would be used to working with a DOF and is a Hollywood signing for Moshiri
Only issue is he may do a Carlo if a bigger club flashes their knickers at him

While I agree with a lot of that, it does question the wisdom of signing Maupay for £20m.

Yes it does, but no one wants to acknowledge that he actually bought him, it suits the expected butties narrative better to pretend all these players were just forced on poor little old Graham. If only they’d give him funds to get a decent striker in!!

Martinez problem is he talked about it but never really got around to doing it. He played largely the same 4-2-3-1 that Moyes was sort of playing and never moved on from it.

Maupay scored 25 goals for Brentford before Brighton bought him, and he has 18 goals in 70 games for Brighton. Is not many years since we at Everton had dreamed of a striker of that quality.
Maupay only gets criticised for the amount of missed chances, because Brighton do create a lot. Bamford scored a lot this year but missed a hell of a lot. Dom for all his 1v1 moments that etch in our brains has been quite clinical this year in comparison to most.

I hope Ferguson goes round to view the Benitez mobile and kicks its tyres.
