Thing is people need to be okay while we are in the building phase to play better more attractive football on the pitch but still finishing 10th. There needs to be a level of satisfaction outside of points and scores. Keep us away from relegation and play attractive football. Potter has done that while NES hasn't and without the super agents help NES wouldn't have gotten the team he did. Potter and BHA built their team and attracted new younger players through their style of play
Exactly this. There needs to be a baseline of results but needs to be 12th instead of 7th. I know that is hard for some people to hear but it is what it is. We have to build slower or we are going to languish in this 7th to 10th wasteland forever.

Interesting, but I bet none of these names are under consideration by the club heirarchy.
With reports of 40+ serious applications I wouldn't doubt some came across the desk and with how long they have taken so far and how slow the media is at bringing out new info it seems Brands is taking his time as he should. I'd expect a new manager around the end of the Euro's though to start the recruitment process and training. If it take longer it takes longer though

I’m not backing Ferguson for the job. Not even close to that.

There’s a world of difference between wanting him to be our manager and drawing sweeping conclusions that he’s entirely useless based on supposition and guesswork…

Or making the ridiculous assertion that he failed or was “embarrassing” in his short spell as caretaker, having gone undefeated (shootout aside) against a clutch of top 6 sides, off the back of us getting pumped by Liverpool and sitting in the relegation zone. His league ppg averaged over a season would have seen us on 63pts. Again, you can’t suppose he would have continued that form, but you CERTAINLY can’t call it a failure.
Of course it was a failure. It was an audition for a job and he didn't pass it. The first game against Chelsea apart we looked clueless - it was huff and puff and by the Arsenal game he was completely out of ideas.

As I said, I'd love someone to tell me how this feller is supposed to be good enough to be a PL manager and there's no proof of it...and then tell me why no one has asked him to manage their team.

There's a fairly easy answer to that IMO: he's not up to it. But that doesn't stop a lot of Everton supporters each time we look for a new manager to come forward with his name. It's incredible.

If all you're concerned with is pedigree so to speak it was going to be a downgrade from Carlo
Carlo really left us in the proverbial brown stuff leaving when he did. He knew this summer needed a rebuild and was always going to be difficult with the International activity hung over from last year. Here we are rudderless in the transfer window already and frankly seemingly far away from getting a manager in. Decisions needed to be made on selling deadwood, and filling the gaps. Let alone how this is going to effect the players Carlo bought. None of that seems to be happening while we all obsess over a new coach. Next year is written off already, as whoever comes in inherits last years 10th placed team.
Thanks Carlo!

We so badly need to write off a year and work on development though that I wouldn't even mind.

He won’t come back here because he knows the fans have seen through his bullshit and crap signings once before and won’t put up with it again
Not to mention his inability to organise a defence at club level
He's outgrown the club.

We finished 10th in the PL while he's coaching the no.1 team in international football.

He won't be coming here in a hurry.

It's the exact same process that got Villa Watkins and Leicester Maddison but ok.

As always we're looking at the result and not the process.
But, potter didn't sign Watkins or Maddison, just as Koeman signed a raft of players that cost a fortune .
Just like David Moyes was excellent at picking up great players at bargain prices.

I simply don't get the argument for Graham Potter as Everton manager.

It was NOT an audition for the job, when asked about it at the time he said 'this clubs needs a big manager'... He was never in the running by his own choice and admission.
Arsenal were just as bad as us that game, it was a crud game, they happen
'there's no proof of it' regarding if he is good enough also means there is no proof 'he's not up to it'
You aren't alone in thinking he's not the man for the job but to say he failed in the interim is ridiculous and you are trying to rewrite history from some obscure angle to support your narrative.
Who do you want as manager?
