There are no guarantees, no matter who we choose mate. I'd just like us to have bit more about us than looking at 'who's free atm' as this narrows the field down considerably. Christ it won't be long before 'he's still got a house in the area' is rolled out.

Moyes will be talking us down as soon as hes got his feet under the table. Anything bad happens wont be his fault. Anything good will be down to him. If carsley is coming in with him and the plan is for moyes to move upstairs eventually and carsley becomes head coach/manager that would suit me better. I would love a sarri, mourinho or allegri but cant see us attracting anyone of that calibre at the moment. We may have to cut our cloth accordingly as they say. Moyes is still the same bottler he was when he left. He can spot a player though. Give him 18 months and if the manger they really want becomes available pay his contract up and bring them in. Its an added expense they probably didnt want but dyche has put us in this situation. Soon find out. Up the Toffees.

We’ll see. If he has a 6 to 18month deal then this is all part of the plan and they’ll change him in the summer.
Oh, never underestimate the sentimental, conservative Everton fanbase. For many, today's news allows them to remember themselves as they used to be 20 years ago. The Moyesiah is back. "Good times" are around the corner, once more. Win a couple of games against Ipswich and Leicester, put up a plucky knife fight against some of "the real top clubs", throw in a narrow cup defeat to Wrexham with Wembley in sight, and they'll be clamouring for an extension to allow him "show what he could do with money."

Nah, he's here for years.

Sam Allardyce got an 18 month contract but I think all parties probably acknowledged at the outset that it was only a six month expectation? The situation is a bit like when Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement at the end if that season the players stopped being in fear of him?

Strange to say, but maybe it would help Everton in the long term to go down. Get a chance to reset the franchise while competing in a league where they are one of the best teams rather than one of the worst. Make over the roster while hopefully doing enough to earn immediate promotion. Look at clubs like Fulham...a yo-yo club for years and now they are solid. Much more common to do it that way than a club like Forest. Spent huge money when they came up to EPL only to narrowly avoid relegation for 2 years. This year they look good, but who knows if that is a flash in the pan?
