We did until we sacked him to be fair.

We were poor last season. Terrible to watch, relied on set pieces. It's not often acknowledged either, but we were also incredibly lucky with injuries.

But at some point you've got to bring them players in you say. Saying so, automatically made you a Dychette - but it's reality, that won't change under Moyes.

The question is whether we push players more forward will that resolve lack of goals. Maybe. Or maybe we just lose the draws;

With the same players on Wednesday I seen us attack more get up the field. Get the FBs into more advanced positions, Yes we got beat by a good team by a solitary goal which was a mistake from us.

There has to be a blend of both attacking and defending and I think if anything that’s what Moyes brings.

Under the last manager we relied upon being defensively perfect for 90 odd minutes just get anything from the game.
No plan B if we conceded first and let’s be honest Plan A was atrocious

If Moyes takes us down have we still avoided a bullet?

It's a fair question and a possibility.
Financially, yes.
Put either of those in charge and we were done. We needed someone to come in and save the club, they were looking at US being the key to saving them and their businesses. Would have only ended one way.

We need bodies behind the ball. Leaving us expose = almost certain defeat.

That calculation of attack v defence changes only when the quality of our players changes.
Against City Liverpool Arsenal and maybe one or two others, but the rest of the league

Bournemouth Brentford Palace Leicester Southampton Wolves Brighton Ipswich Forest NO

Of course. But I also saw a team more open - we could/should have been 2 down by 30 minutes.

The problem we have is we're incapable of bridging defence an attack, because there's no ball carriers/pace. Then sprinkle in a lack of ability/composure across the front and it's a recipe for relegation scrap.

What is very noticeable is none of our midfielders show for the ball of the CBs it always starts down the FBs side, Mangala or Gana don’t show enough for the ball.

We are missing Big Tim in midfield also.

Anyway I see changes against spurs in set up man’s personnel. Let’s see if our attacking ideas are better because of it

Villa are a good team but they'd lost their last 5 away games (by an aggregate score of 14-2) and hadn't kept a clean sheet away all season, people loved bringing that type of thing up to have a go at Dyche we can't just move the goalposts now. I think @GrandOldTeam is right, being more attacking with the same players may mean we get more wins than we would have done and pull away, which would be great. Alternatively it may mean we stop keeping the clean sheets and the 0-0s turn into 0-1s and we go down. I think it's genuinely a coin toss personally. I'd rather not find out though, get some more quality in ASAP and ensure we're not relying on the same players who haven't been scoring enough goals for the last 5 years.

This was always the way under Moyes in his first spell too.

Was just looking last night we've the 7th best defence in the league - and i dont even think that is our mean - because we conceded a lot at the start of the season.

We've one of the worst attacks obviously - so that's the issue. I guess we know all that.

But its so obvious its fixable - TFG need to invest and buy goals.

If we do that we're grand.

Its a choice as far as i can see.

Its how much you want to invest to ensure being a PL club.

The 0-0s were going to take us down though. We need 5-6 wins minimum in 2nd half of season to stay up. The previous manager had no idea how to go and win games with or without new players. He admitted as much when TFG called his bluff and said they d back him.

The window is still open and with Moyes we have a fighting chance of improving with a few smart additions and/or him mixing it up and finding a balance. 1 training session he had before the Villa game and even in that you could see some improvement in 2nd half when he made some tweaks to formation etc

We haven’t lost anything in sacking Dyche and even if we had to press the nuclear option and return to that ‘style’ Moyes could do that tomorrow (any manager can it’s not difficult)

Lost less games than Spurs and the same as United, Brentford, and West Ham so far.

4th highest draws in the league.

It needs investment to turn that into wins.

Leicester and Ipswich have 13 & 16 points after 21 games
I would be amazed if either get over 30 points this season unless they brought some quality before the end of the window.
There is no way they get over a point a game.
