I agree we should be bolder at home to any of those second line of teams. But away from home we cant do that and hope to get wins.
We can mate we have to lose this inferior mentality.

Having the right mentality will get you points going into games feeling inferior to the opposition is only going to give them edge before a ball is kicked.

There is nothing between the teams in the bottom half some are stronger than others in certain areas, it’s mentality belief and style that gets teams wins.

Southampton last night at Utd we just 10 mins away from beating utd on their own patch but for 10 minutes of madness, this is a team that’s won one game all season.

The 0-0s were going to take us down though. We need 5-6 wins minimum in 2nd half of season to stay up. The previous manager had no idea how to go and win games with or without new players. He admitted as much when TFG called his bluff and said they d back him.

The window is still open and with Moyes we have a fighting chance of improving with a few smart additions and/or him mixing it up and finding a balance. 1 training session he had before the Villa game and even in that you could see some improvement in 2nd half when he made some tweaks to formation etc

We haven’t lost anything in sacking Dyche and even if we had to press the nuclear option and return to that ‘style’ Moyes could do that tomorrow (any manager can it’s not difficult)
Doubt we'd need 6 wins. The bottom 3 only have 7 between them after 21 games and 17 to play

It's not just pscychological though. There is an inability of these players to get on the ball and look comfortable on it. I dont think low possession stats is just a manifestation of negative tactics...the negative tactics are a result of the lack of quality players.

To get to just 36 points we need 19 points. I wouldn’t want to gamble on any less given wolves and Ipswich are improving. 5 wins and 4 draws is much easier to achieve than 2 or 3 wins and 10 draws

This was Big Nev’s point when having a pop at Kenwright’s ownership. If you’re going to think you’re not good enough, you won’t be good enough, and then you’ll start accepting mediocrity as an achievement.

Long term it’s psychological. Short term it’s the crap players. Trouble is, the longer it goes on, the lower we sink overall. You’ve got to break the thinking as well as bring in decent players.

….my word, well said Dave ;)
We need a reset .
But that can’t happen while every season prioritises survival above everything else.
We exist frozen in constant fear and that has lasted for 3 decades, this dictates everything we do from player recruitment to managerial appointments.
We are trapped in a vicious circle of failure.

….it helps if you just buy good footballers, regardless of budget.

Of course. But I also saw a team more open - we could/should have been 2 down by 30 minutes.

The problem we have is we're incapable of bridging defence an attack, because there's no ball carriers/pace. Then sprinkle in a lack of ability/composure across the front and it's a recipe for relegation scrap.
The moment we started to try and play more progressively we got caught. The goal, and the two chances that immediately preceded it were caused by Branthwaite being caught out ahead of the halfway line.

Whether that was due to a lack of available options, or due to his individual error - it shows how limited we are when we try and play on the front foot. It was headless chickens/playground stuff at times - that's not a sustainable approach either.

Need better midfielders/forwards

That reset should have been in May.
I don't think Moyes is the right man to be at the helm.
I think we've started another cycle of mediocrity. Albeit one with an element of financial stability.

Mate I'd much rather you posted like this all the time instead waking up in the morning and deciding to rage bait people on here

Far more pleasant and interesting to read.
