Cannon, Simms and Ishe Samuels Smith. Apart from Armstrong, they're the only 3 that have had a real sniff of first team action.

At the end of the day you can only put players into the first team that are actually good enough. And the academy has had barely any money for recruitment because the finances have been such a shambles. (Plus the academy ban from a few year back).
Ishe Smith is a prospect but will never see the Chelsea first team.

Simms is utter garbage with flat feet.

Cannon mid level championship player.

Like I said if there was ever a time to break into the first team the past 3 seasons has been that time.

Listen it's just my opinion on Vaughan mate, and I feel like if he'd have shown the people above him enough result with his work he'd have been retained and he hasn't,Which leads me to believe he was a classic Kenwright era mindset jobs for the boys appointment.

Remember when some of our fans wanted us to buy cannon back in January 🙈🙈

Right, its all about the owner....but because its all about who they put in charge. Do they hire people who are good at their job and let them work, or hire an competent lackey?

Im a fan of a team that was the laughingstock of the league and run by someone worse than Kenwright. In 1 year new owners changed them into the talk of the league and the place everyone wants to be.
Beneathus was Seaman Staines

I mean based on this then which of the youth players do you think he should have got promoted into the first team setup? Those 3 along with Armstrong and Dobbin are the cream of the crop and you're of the opinion that they're not good enough. I am too tbh, ISS still being the big unknown.

This season was the first one where the academy were actually given any serious budget so it's not as if he could have recruited anyone either.

But if that's all true then his job was to promote the players we have to the right level, sell them and make money for the club. Which he has clearly done.

Your last bit might be true but it seems a bit basic really. It's just as likely that his role won't exist in the new setup so he's redundant. Reducing anyone who ever played for Everton as a jobs for the boys hire just removes any actual assessment of the work they've done while they were here.

Yeah, but that would require some thinking!!

Stanley Mills?

Head of pathways for me is there to provide youth players to first team set up..which he hasn't done

I genuinely believe if TFG and Moyes thought he was worth retaining they'd have found a role for him within the new set up,So giving the fact he's been given his P45 says to me his they weren't impressed with the work he has done.

Mills feels a bit of a reach given your review of Simms and Cannon, both of whom have done more than Mills and at a higher level. But even with that, Mills was provided to the first team and actually made 2 appearances, wasn't good enough and so was loaned out.

My personal take is that Armstrong is the only youth player in his time that is a potential Everton first teamer, possibly Ishe Samuels Smith too but a bit harder to judge given I haven't actually watched him since he left us. Based on that, he's done absolutely the most he could have. Along with that, it was his loan management that contributed to us getting good fees for Simms and Cannon.

I respect your opinion mate but I feel like you're giving him far to much credit.

So other than decent fees Thelwell got for Simms and Cannon he not got much to show for his time here.

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on this one mate👍

Jobs for the boys no more
Boom 💥
I don't want to dance on the grave of a guy who has lost his job - and I don't know how he performed in the role - but I do agree with your overall sentiment. Was James Vaughan really the best man in the world for this job? The Friedkins clearly decided not (assuming it wasn't Vaughan's decision). And that's surely a positive pointer to how things will be run from here on in.

Bill's band are being broken up...

Beginning to think Moyes has less to do with positions like this than we might assume.
If Moyes had anything to do with it, Vaughn stays imo, he will want as many allies / puppets behind the scenes as possible.
