New Everton Stadium

Through thick and thin, regardless how poor we've been at times over the years, when at Goodison I've generally felt happy. I still do.

Really, I am not one normally for sentiment and irrational emotions but it really is just simply a special place. The atmosphere; the character.

Undoubtedly, it will be sad to leave the Ol' Lady and for future generations not to experience the whole feeling, yet needs must.
Needs mustn't though necessarily. With a fraction of the expenditure required for a new ground GP could be upgraded and expanded to leave us with a mix of the new (improvements to the Park End and the Main Stand) and the old (Gwladys St and Bullend Rd) unique in England.

This... but with 4 Ruperts Towers instead of thos cylinder-pillars

Its a mile away from Goodison and Goodison itself only has 1 main away.

Goodison is also a residential area incase you hadnt noticed and again has no rail connection.
last time I looked GP had a surrounding road network going in all directions. WHP would have only one immediate exit road (Walton Hall Avenue), the other 3 sides would be the park itself presumably.

And yes I had noticed that GP is in a residential area with no rail connection (although Kirkdale is less than a mile away), but isn't one benefit of relocation supposed to be improvements in transport connections?

Taken from Everton Rumours site...

"Walton Hall Park is just under a mile away from the"Old Lady" and still within the city boundary. It is huge and backs onto the main dual-carriageway A580 East Lancs Road."

True, however unless multiple additional road access points other than the current one from WH Ave were developed, if the new stadium as well as a proposed retail development went ahead, parking and access on matchdays would be a nightmare. Then there's the loss of the park and the furore that might raise, no street parking to talk of either and where are all the coaches expected to park - Priory Road still?

This needs a whole lot more thinking before a final decision is made. Access, exiting and parking, public transport infrastructure, local resident opinions are all key matters that need to be sorted before we even get to whether it's a bowl or four-stand stadium - also the actual siting and position of the stadium.

Nothing can or must be rushed, the club needs to consult with as many people as possible over every single aspect of a stadium development project... widen the net and talk to developers, stadium management specialists, investment specialists, transport experts - from across the globe !!!

For heavens sake, this is a decision and a project that is ABSOLUTELY paramount and key to the future of the club, it cannot be taken lightly and without exploring every possibility and opportunity and listening to experts in every field required.

It has to be done right. I just cannot see GP being remodelled at all and within a cost we can afford. Cannot see any way of getting rid of obstructed views without taking stands down and rebuilding. We all talk of the club progressing, to me it is GP which is holding the club back not so much the Board who admittedly have not helped. With a new stadium built or planned it is possible the club could then attract a moneyed interest ala Spurs.

Let's not kid ourselves - we're going to end up with something that is cheap, boring and soulless like the proposed Tescodome.

But the Kirkby effort had the much coveted four separate stands, whereas the far superior Kings Dock was of a bowl structure. I personally think the four separate stand thing, a la Millwall and Wigan etc, looks cheap and in no way enhances atmosphere like it is claimed. It just looks like you are too poor, or not big enough, to have seats in the corner.

I think the key difference is Kings Dock would have been a world class stadium and the Tescodome would have been made from lego.
