New Everton Stadium

The reason Goodison has such a great atmosphere every single game is because it isn't a 'generic bowl'. If it was, then we would probably end up going through large periods of complete silence during a match, which would be awful and something that we are definitely not used to.

I've posted about this ground before, just find it a wonderful venue with a unique style to it. All corners filled in but still got terrific steep stands. Smart retractable roof as well - an absolute necessity for the docks, surely.
Just check out the colours.... Smooth, man...real smooooooth.

That scoreboard as well though... boss.

In my humble opinion the generic bowl doesn't stop the atmosphere, that's caused by the fan base (whether they are loud or not) and is also dictated by ticket prices to how many prawn sandwich brigade do you have in.

The bowls just look samey and slightly increase the distance between the pitch and stands. (Obviously West hams is outside the scope of a generic bowl...)

I'm sorry but...Goodison doesn't have a great atmosphere every single game. Infact, it's absolutely dreadful most games. Away fans mock us every game and even when we're 2 or 3 0 up it's still quiet. Unless it's a big game.

Going to away games, it's a shock to see home supporters singing from the off, and continuing for a lot of the game.

Goodison really doesn't have a great atmosphere bar 2 or 3 games a season though. Neither does any ground in the PL tbf

Went there for a game last season

Absolutely immense place - the atmosphere was also incredible

The poor atmosphere at some big 'new grounds' is also largely down to the expanded clientele now buying the tickets as well as having stands built away from the pitch. The new type of fan, who has tagged themselves onto a club, who are there because they expect that team will win no matter what (so reinforcing their bold decision to support them) and because they want to take lots of photos of the experience!

While I understand why some people would want some kind of input from the fans on the stadium design, I think on the most part that this is something best left to the professionals.

As Sir Alec Issigonis (allegedly) said, a camel is a horse designed by commitee.
I like that saying ;)

As for Dortmund's stadium, what makes that is the fans. As a structure its fairly ugly, with stands and corners all cobbled together having expanded over the years. No architect in their right mind would design that from scratch. Give me a bigger version of Bordeaux, or else Lyon (with a nicer roof) any day.

The atmosphere at Goodison most weeks is far from great, and there's little orchestrated singing. On its day, especially a big night game, it can be great, but to say it's every week is simply incorrect

I suspect he's being sarcastic here.
