The UK has just had 4 years of quantitative easing. Where billions of pounds has been printed and thrown put into the financial markets to increase liquidity. (Money availability).

Interest rates at record lows.

If we can't fund a stadium now with that lot sloshing around we never will be able to.

Yeah but in their defence, these sort of things can die a death after those sort of press releases. A year or so worth of planning and collaborating and hunting for money and having them to come back still talking it up is positive.

Oh I'm quite sure we'll have concrete plans and designs eventually - that part is easy. We've done it THREE TIMES previously - the Cronton stadium in 1997/98, Kings Dock in 2002, and Kirkby Fun Dome in 2007.

It's the actual 'getting planning permission' and 'spade in the ground' parts that are highly unlikely.

Not to mention all the Kopite NIMBYS that will now launch a campaign to save Walton Hall Park.

There must be a lot of plans available from all the stadia that have been built globally the past few years. Just cherry pick the best ones.
