New Everton Stadium

I'm sure that what you say is true, but it's absolutely ridiculous. And suggestions about building bridges or subways are offering very expensive and probably even inpractical solutions. Honestly, if you are in favour of Everton progressing at BMD then you should be in favour of removing this useless wall, as I don't see the two co-existing.

It's ridiculous. Every single Evertonian has probably accepted that they will die at some point; a living, breathing, unique individual will be forgotten about, and yet we are supposed to prevent much needed progress in the City of Liverpool in order to forever conserve some useless wall that was built by slaves under duress from their slave masters. It's an absolute bizarre attitude imo.

I suppose you would support the destruction of Auschwitz camp for apartment blocks.

The wall is Grade 2 listed and cant be knocked down, so Ive read on here!
You can disagree all you want, but Grade II listed buildings are protected for their aesthetic appeal and historical importance, and to protect the h

If you were to use that argument you would end up knocking down The Pyramids, Buckingham Palace, The White House, or pretty much any old building of historical consequence.

There is nothing bizarre about the process of listing and protecting structures of historic importance, character or aesthetic value.

Anybody know if there are any restrictions on moving grounds part way through a season? Just thinking what with West Ham's experience, we might want to get a few points on the board before saying goodbye to Goodison.

The likes of the White House etc are sufficiently maintained and utilised buildings, there's no reason to knock them down. If there is value in preserving a historical structure, like marveling at the remarkable construction of the pyramids, or ensuring that people don't forget the stain on humanity that is Auschwitz, then of course that makes sense. Does that mean that every wall that has ever been created should be conserved forever, even if they are not being utilised, have been neglected for years, and are preventing a real need for progress? I guess everyone will have their own opinion on which structures have value and which ones do not.

Because they're not corrupt and they don't accept bungs.
Oh bore off. As if that bit was the permanent part of my post.

Fact remains if this wall was grade I, we'd be screwed. Local historic societies can apply for anything to be grade II listed, it really isn't anything special. It'd take a compelling case to reject a request to strip it of it's listing.

It won't be going lad, if you don't want to hear it from me then just wait because time will prove me right. They were going to put a bridge over the wall in Princes Dock a while back, all of that trouble and yet it's not important.

They won't demolish the whole lot, but they won't leave it untouched either.

Time will no doubt prove neither of us right, as we'll both be bones in the ground long before this stadium gets planning permission.

What exactly is the problem with the wall ? It is beautiful and has access points for people and vehicles.....
