New Everton Stadium

Not to my knowledge, and in any case, it doesn't rule out political opposition to it or even some ratepayers alliance type group stepping forward.

The cuts LCC have made are important in the sense of the perception of a council cutting back on vital services but now propping up a football club in the top 30 richest in the world or whatever. If you dont think that's going to be difficult to sell, think again.

Moshiri is not a director and therefore not liable for debt. He's a man with £2B and he's the one who stands to make the most out of all this if the stadium is built...but he's not exposed to any of the dangers! Again: non-cntroversial?

Do me a favour mate. This is going to be very unpopular with most non-Everton supporters and a concern even within aour ranks.

Nice

usually a cover group for hard right tories, let them embarrass themselves with the kopites.

Whilst there is a likelihood of objections and calls for review/investigation, you would expect that an enormous amount of work has gone into exploring all possibilities between the club, council, and other stakeholders.

I hope that there have been legal, planning, finance, local government, and environmental experts playing devils advocate with this for the last 12-18 months and that all manner of obstacles and potential problems have been identified and teased out with a plan of action to overcome and mitigate any expected issues.

Today's announcement whether it be from the club, council, or both is extremely significant, the public birth of the project. It is a tremendous day for us but just the beginning of years of work.

I would be confident of PP particularly with the councils buy-in to the extent mooted. No way will they be participants to an announcement to a project on this scale on a half-baked basis. That gives me further confidence with we might be able to take 12 months off the timeframe for a build as well.

A great day for Everton Football Club. I just hope and expect that we have been diligent to the point of extreme tediousness in crossing the I's and dotting the T's - that will be needed and will stand as an enormous advantage in overcoming hurdles.

Now looking forward to getting a glimpse of a basic design and concept too.

Well your knowledge is flawed on this, try asking the right people.

And the cuts are irrelevant, LCC are not propping up the club at all it's the same facility that can be used for any regeneration program. As I said the other week the council are only looking at 2 areas looking forward, protecting the most vulnerable and growing the city. This is guaranteed income, direct into the coffers that may be keep people in a job or a library open.

No matter what we did at BMD it was going to be unpopular in most non-evertonian eyes, if this deal hadn't been brokered they'd be saying Joe used political force to get the location.

It's prime location that forever changes one of the most famous skylines in the world

Out of interest, how would you have liked this to be funded by Moshiri?? Out of his own pocket?? A debt with large interest rates against the club like arsenal did??

It definitely hasn't received formal cabinet approval...yet.

People will question why LCC are guarantors when we have a billionaire. It's going to happen, we have to take off our blue tinted glasses and appreciate people will have concerns.
