New Everton Stadium

and just how will they accomplish that expansion and over what time period?

Goodison can be expanded to 55,000 easily enough without impact to current matchgoers.

Same way they are going to build 12 air conditioned stadiums for the WC.

That is them isnt it? Basically.

That's a misnomer. The issue with Goodison has never been the potential maximum capacity. It has been the poor views in a large majority of the available seats and also the comparatively small amount of hospitality options compared to more modern grounds.

A team challenging for the top four with a support base of our size simply does not need a 52,000 seater ground. 45,000 would be more than enough.

Yea but the club needs to increase the support base in order to sustain growth. When the park end was re built we probably had an average of well below 30K attendance. You talk about the Etihad going up to 61K, 12 years ag Maine Road had a capacity of 35K. I'm not saying build a 60 or 70K stadium but it would be shortsighted in the extreme to build a new 40K stadium

17. Stanley Park
Planning permission for Liverpool FC stadium and thus suitable. But, ground sharing ruled out.

Since they no longer have any interst in the site then there'll be no objections to us using it, no groundshare required

Aye, we had no choice as roker was falling to bits.

Still miss it tho.
Mate has the new stadium made any difference?

Cards on the table here I don't think a single club can point at their new stadium and say "what a difference this has made to us".

The only club potentially to have gained is Arsenal but I argue Wenger had worked the oracle bringing success and creating demand first, no one else is anywhere near that position.

From afar Sunderland and City, 2 great fanbases, aren't filling their new grounds - something ain't adding up.

Be very interested to hear what you all expected compared to the reality.

It did at the start. And like I said we had no choice as roker had to be replaced.

Should have stated at 42,000 but we increased to 49,000 and we average just over 40,000.

A lot of fans turned their back on the club after the 19 and 15 point seasons, and it's hard to get them back.

When we moved i didn't expect anything other than a new ground, but then again I never expect much anyway.

One for the local lads this really...... Can we discuss potential sites? Personally, with a regeneration plan, I'd say the footy pitches off Stanley Rd near Sandhills station would be a good place.

A 52,000 seater stadium would be a waste of money for a club in our position. We need a 40,000~ seater with plenty of good hospitality options. We wouldn't sell out 50,000 seats or even get close most games.

We are getting what we are getting now with very little in the way of promotion.

If we became even moderately successful it shouldnt be a problem to get rid of 30% more tickets.

But WHP area transport wise couldnt cope with 52k.

Not necessarily. The stadium could quite easily be built with a view to expansion down the line.

Our average attendance is something like 35,000 and we only have about 25,000 season ticket holders, it would be madness to build a 52,000 seater stadium at this point.

25k is the limit placed on ST sales by the club.

How do you propose to expand?

You either build to a 52,000 capacity and leave spaces e.g. corners, so that is money spent up front, except for plastic seats.

Or you build foundations sufficiently large to increase the height of a stand (or stands) later on, less money spent up front but meaning a closure of facilities later on and a phased expansion.

There are plenty of grounds around the world that have been expanded, Citeeh are just the latest to do so soon.

Me I would rebuild Goodison, build near to the city centre or no further out than Sandhills or lastly in and around Edge Lane/Edge Hill Station area.
