New Everton Stadium

It did at the start. And like I said we had no choice as roker had to be replaced.

Should have stated at 42,000 but we increased to 49,000 and we average just over 40,000.

A lot of fans turned their back on the club after the 19 and 15 point seasons, and it's hard to get them back.

When we moved i didn't expect anything other than a new ground, but then again I never expect much anyway.
Interesting mate, much of the reasoning here for moving is success via "more money" (corporates and increased gates) but given no precedent exists I'm yet to be won over.

Watching clubs with new stadia there seems something missing fans don't seem as integrated into the club or the game it's like new clothes mean you don't get down and dirty anymore. I also suspect fans are less forgiving the hope garnered by a rebirth kills fans off if not successful - it's like the last straw - possibly your comments about 19 and 15 point seasons reflects this.

I advocate developing existing grounds to my mind the baby gets thrown out with the bath water when you arse about with club tradition and attracting new matchgoers in any great number just seems a bust these days. I cite both City and Sunderland as "hotbed" examples where it hasn't really happened indeed don't Sunderland give or heavily discount tickets to schools etc to get people in?

Ideas like that would give the club ample opportunity to grow over the long term. The RS will never loose their global fan base so Everton should concentrate on the locals community. Get them in early and they'll be hooked, increase in merchandise etc etc.
I get what you're saying but surely any local kid will already have his allegiance decided before he/she is born. If your kids got a free ticket to Anfield & came home as RS, how would that go down in your house? ;o)

Anyway gents, its pointless even discussing, nothing is even being discussed in detail (well not that we know about).

Regardless of our opinions, i.e. what we think of the club and the running of the club etc, we all want the best. So lets hope this is something that is in the pipeline

And with that, i wish you a good night and COYB

We know that something is being discussed in detail, because the Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson told us all last week.

Maybe it'll be a discussion about which supermarket we shall work with. I think the decision will hinge on who's colours will look best as our away kit.

Tesco - another shade of blue?
Sainsbury - Orange
Asda - Green
Waitrose - Brown
M&S - Black

I wouldn't rule out Tesco too quickly; Terry Leahy stil has serious influence within Tesco and if you look at the North End of the city whats one thing thats missing?? A Tesco superstore; Sainsburys and 2 Asda's are within the radius, Tesco have metros and express stores.

My opinion, its still a possibility.

I'll think you'll find that Leahy's influence in Tesco's has fallen significantly - many of the initiatives he put in place have become very expensive for Tesco shareholders in the last couple of years....

Lost their arse on Fresh & Easy here in the Western US...REALLY lost, to the tune of about 3+ billion USD. Should've asked me, beforehand. This is the the most competitive state in the nation for supermarkets. Or at least it was when I left management 8 years ago.

Since Sir Terry left Tesco's they been on the slide so he was doing something right while he was there.
It's a bit like Man Ure now that OFM has taken over from Sir Alex!

The US venture bombed under the new CEO, granted it wasn't the best idea, but leahy still has 'friends' within Tesco; he was chairman and CEO for god knows how many years and made a lot of shareholders very rich by turning a small supermat chain into a big business.

I'm not saying it will happen, but if there is a chance of a supermarket joined to a new stadium for us, I'm just saying I still wouldn't rule out tesco. Do I think we will? No

Leahy is now chairman of B&M I believe, another Liverpool based business

Not as much as we used to as far as I know, but we have some of the cheapest tickets in the league anyway.

£69 for kids next season and in think mine will be £495. All tickets are reduced. Can't ever accuse the club of charging to much.

Maybe it's because I grew up at roker but the sol has never really done it for me, it's a lovely ground and like I said we had no choice but I would have loved to stay at roker park.

Guess it all comes down to the football. If we were on your position we would almost be selling out, I guess.

We still average over 40,000 and for a team who have won the square root of nothing since 1973 and is about to suffer its 8 relegation since then. I guess the crowds are top drawer.

But, I reckon we will drop to about 30,000 next season and it willbe noticeable in such a big stadium.

Can Goodison be redeveloped and what would the capacity be?

Remember that Park End annexe?

Was there ever any confirmation it was binned? Or more to the point, why?...

This was the last word on the subject from Elstone back in 2012:

Q: Is the Walton Lane development finally dead?

A: No, far from it. The original funding came from fit-out budgets pledged by our partners Kitbag and Sodexo, supporting a long term lease that was going to cost us less than the uplift in royalties that Kitbag were going to give us. So it was a no-brainer. Then we hit unforeseen problems with the security held by Prudential (the Club has a long-term liability with Prudential taken out in 2002). We are now back in discussion with our partners and with the City Council. Kitbag still want a brand new shop, we want some new offices, and Sodexo would like some new hospitality facilities. We all want to make it work. Now we have meetings later this month to revisit the financial model. If that can be made to stack up I would be inclined to press the button straight away. We have also discussed grant and loan support with Liverpool City Council. So, no, we haven't given up on it.

He hasn't given up on it then.

I for one have tremendous faith that he's still going to get this done.
