New Everton Stadium

I wouldn't call Riverside Drive the "sticks".

As close to the Liver Building, if not closer, as the current ground is surely?

I didn't know they used it for dogging, though lol

Maybe closer geographically so the first hurdle then would be premium land purchase, lease or rent.

Whilst Riverside Drive is a large road, once again it is one in one out.

Pubs, cafes etc?

If a package existed that would include stadium, social gathering areas with catering and bars and ample parking and re-routing of public transport fit to empty quick enough it would not be in our budget!!!!

Definitely a dogging area, my mate told me!!!:D

The issue with Festival Gardens is its previous usage. The reason that previous uses have failed is because of the large amounts of methane that are produced from the wasteland that was covered by the original development. There have been plenty of developers put off by this, which is why such a huge amount of land that can only be considered otherwise as prime real estate due to location hasn't yet been built upon for domestic housing. I'm not sure what that would mean for sporting venues though. I suppose that a case could be made for harvesting the gaseous output for energy creation to increase stadium sustainability. Its been there for a long time though, and not really been a front runner in discussions. there must be reason other than ownership for that.

Would be great to see the extension of the canal down towards that area if a ground was to be built. Matchday Everton barge journeys to and from from the arena/dock car park to the ground and back after the game. VIP treatment for a really special experience at a cost that Everton benefit from. Unlikely though as I'm not sure how it would route.

Thought the same for any potential development of Regent road, down towards Salisbury and Clarence docks. I know that access is clearly a huge issue here, but that would be my number one choice for any new ground that Everton were to build. Peel pretty much have it all tied up though.

Methane should not be an issue - we have been watching shoite for years, why not smell it as well.:celebrate:

Good god I hope not, nowhere to park, one road. It would be ideal for me though, I could walk there in 5 mins.

They could build a landing stage and we could all jump on at the pier head

Just looked above the city through Google Earth and shock of horrors the festival site is slightly further away from the city centre than Goodison is - just 'feels' a bit nearer.

Tottenham seem to be a step closer to getting their new stadium, the metal worker business that they needed to buy the land from was the victim of an arson attack and now they are not fighting the Compulsery Purchase Order.

I still think the council could do something like this for us with the houses and the school around us, maybe move them to Walton hall park? Just a thought.

Just to be clear, I'm not condoning acts of arson, I mean the council could use Compulsery purchase orders to give is the land we need.

The Steel company have now come to an agreement with Levy and the remodelling of WHL will go ahead.

The old festival site would be perfect for a stadium, but the transport links might be an issue.

However, all the eggs appear to be in the WHP basket as it stands.
