New Everton Stadium

Because it genuinely pains me to see two blues so bereft of hope and optimism, I will be stupidly optimistic on Dave and Bigbluenoses behalf. I would like to think that in return they will allocate a little of their world-weariness to me so we all three end up with some sort of cosmic balance?

I think the ground will be built, that is will look boss and that it will be just the right size for the number of match going Evertonians to fill it to the brim and make a hell of a racket as we play our new model brand of sweeping football.

I appreciate that my optimism is largely without foundation, but I have lived through enough scheize in my long years of being an Everton fan to know that every once in a while, when the planets align, something glorious occurs (see Alex Young generally, Alan Ball generally, Big Bob’s 30, the Bayern semi, the Amokachi semi etc. ) and I have a feeling in my groinal fluids that such a convergence is due soon, vault me! :)

I feel for you, I genuinely feel for you my mate !

would you employ a local builder to build your extention, when he's just done next doors and it cost double his initial quite and took twice aslong

that's what we have incharge of this build
Forget the costs and all that nonsense, Long as the stadium is delivered that is all that matters because it's a huge step and boost for the club.

lets be honest, even if it was to start , theres no saying it wouldn't be one expensive disaster after the next... weve got people involved with actual form for it. over seeing disasters...

you should be worried even when we start building it.
There'll be no start. It is way too ambitious and this club has nothing to offer by way of funding - in fact, its finances are precarious and no investor would touch Everton with a barge pole.

The worst of it is that it'll be drawn out as it has been in the past and we've lost another 3 years on some mirage.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It is not without any risk of course as if we as a country have massive issues after Brexit then that could lead to a postponement. But I think they have a fairly robust plan this time unlike previous attempts.

Moshiri would have stopped spending by now else. I know you'll say that is more down to the TV money increase but if you look at other clubs they are not doing the same.
Previous attempts got us to a Sec of State decision - yea or nay - away from a stadium build. Private and public sector partners all full gas going for it.

We are nowhere near that level of involvement with any partner on this.

Can you honestly blame some of us for being cynical?

From ' money being ring fenced' to images of the Kings Dock project being screened at Goodison pre-game.

Whether we get this done or not, can't see it being completed in the current timescales mooted.

It's become a bit like beating the RS in any competitive match, why get your hopes up?

If, as I suspect this goes tits up, can Kenwright survive yet another stadium fail?

The good news is we don't have that long to find out. Planning in by end of year, start of the build by this time next year. If those timescales start slipping then the swingometer will shift in your favour.

Kirkby was driven by Tesco's and that's why it ended up being canned. No one was stopping us building a stadium there, it was just the retail park taking away from the high street. Of course without Tesco we didn't have anything to proceed with. Much rather be in this position relying on us. If they were that far away from bridging a funding gap then we wouldn't have gotten this far. If however the price of a stadium rockets north of one billion or Brexit causes mass unemployment and the people start burning buildings then that is a different kettle of fish.

It's already slipped.

The local plan was the reason for the then Sec of State to knock it back; if the decision had been delayed a year with a Tory in that job it would have been passed. It was a political decision not to go ahead, the plan was in place.
