New Everton Stadium

Sorry I totally disagree, none of your sums add up.

£5 million naming rights per annum? Allianz paid €110 million for Bayern Munich naming rights up to 2041 - less than £80 million and that's for Bayern, Champions League et al.

By all means present an alternative view but at least have a resemblance of fact too.
That's the figure Elstone gave. Take it up with him.

I think we could easily make another 3m from the other activities but I'm not going to argue with you any longer because it really depends on what potential you see the club having.

However ultimately if you don't think we could make a new stadium profitable then you can't continue to demand that Bill finds someone to invest in the team. What mug would want to because by your admission there's no possibility that we could be profitable by growing the business organically.

That basically eliminates anyone except for Oligarchs and Middle Eastern Oil.

Yeah right oh mate

Ever heard of the Echo arena?

.....and if you seriously think we'd make an additional £3m from a handful of additional boxes then you're on crack
The capacity is 12,000.

When the Aviva in Dublin hosts concerts the attendance can push 90,000. It would be a different market and it would only be 4 or 5 a year but I think each one takes in close to a million for the Aviva.

The sums required to recapitalise the business are so great because the club has been under-capitalised for so long.

As a result it is difficult to see how any investor other than an exceptionally wealthy investor/sovereign fund with a desire to make a statement about owning a Premiership club would invest the sums required.

That is the harsh reality of the situation. The only way the Capex required can be reduced is (i) the price for the equity is reduced and (ii) there is some form of public subsidy for stadium/mixed use development.

The price of equity is a very small part of it. It would need 500m over and above the cost of the equity just to buy a stadium and get us challenging top 4.

Lowering the cost of the equity wouldn't make much of a difference now but I agree with everything else. We are in this situation because there has been no investment over too long a time.

It frustrates me that we have people like, Lord Grantchester, who owns 8% of the club and has over a billion pounds, is not interested in driving the club forwards.

I'm not saying he should just bank roll a new stadium, but he could afford to give the club a low interest loan, paid back over a long period of time
